To support a growing team and exciting portfolio of projects, our Newcastle studio has made a move this month. But they haven't gone far - you will still be able to find them at 60 Grey Street in central Newcastle. We'd love to welcome you into our new studio for a coffee and chat, please get in touch if you'd like to connect. We're excited to share that Corstorphine & Wright's development project, 100 Church Gate, has secured planning approval. This ambitious development will bring 222 residential apartment units to the heart of Leicester City Centre. Situated within the Church Gate conservation area, we've taken great care to ensure our design respects and complements the historical and natural elements on site, including several protected trees. The building design transitions smoothly from the low-rise historic buildings on Butt Close Lane, rising to meet the civic context of Vaughan Way. Public access routes are included in our plans, further integrating the development into the urban fabric. Our material choices are inspired by local architectural heritage, combining traditional red brick with buff stone and brick accents for a contemporary yet contextual design finish. #CorstorphineWright #architecture #design #urbanplanning #LeicesterCityCentre #development.

We are fortunate to have such passionate colleagues at Corstorphine & Wright to inspire us to do more, do better and keep learning. Thank you to Natalie and Simon for sharing their experience with us all. #CorstorphineWright #InclusioninPractice #EDIJourney #EDIinArchitecture
Earlier this year, Simon Crosby and I participated in a 6-week learning journey with The London School of Architecture on the topic of 'Inclusion in Practice' - a cause we’re both deeply committed to in our work. The course was led by the incredible Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP, whose unwavering enthusiasm and rigour made each session more engaging than the last. It was certainly the highlight of any week to log on and immerse ourselves in this topic. 🌟 It was also a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded professionals in the industry and share best practices - thank you to everyone who made it such a rewarding experience. 🎊 Our learning journey inspired an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) workshop within Corstorphine & Wright, where 32 employees from 12 of our studios gathered to ensure our learning reached a national level. 📣 The workshop offered a safe space for colleagues to share experiences and discuss how, as a practice, we can push inclusion and diversity forward within our industry. This phase of our journey concluded with Simon and myself presenting online to our 12 studios, sharing insights to spark further discussions within C&W. The level of engagement and the questions raised during the session highlighted the importance of this topic and our collective commitment to driving change. Thank you to all our amazing peers and colleagues - and especially to Marsha Ramroop FRSA FIEDP for further inspiring this important conversation. 🌟 Marsha has recently launched a book, ‘Building Inclusion: A Practical Guide to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in Architecture and the Built Environment’. I personally can’t wait to get stuck in and encourage everyone to go out and buy or borrow a copy! 📒 Ending this post with my favourite quote from the course: Inclusion isn’t about other people and their identities, it’s about us and our behaviours. 🙌
