Our vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home❤
About us
The Passage provides resources to encourage, inspire and challenge people who have or are experiencing homelessness, to transform their lives. Working in Victoria, Westminster (London) where the concentration of people sleeping rough is at its highest in the UK, the work we do is vital. Our Resource Centre offers a wide range of facilities to those who are experiencing homelessness, whilst also offering support to those who are at risk of becoming street homeless. We have three accommodation projects offering a safe place to call home for those with complex needs, or to those who are in the process of finding a sustainable route off the streets. We are a voice for change and advocate for those who often feel their voice is not heard. The Passage takes its values and ethos from the teachings and example of St Vincent De Paul, a Christian and social reformer, who co-founded the Daughters of Charity in 1633. Vincent believed in action rather than words and in hands-on service to vulnerable people. Our Vincentian values drive everything that we do. • We assist homeless people to realise their own potential to transform their lives. • We act with compassion and kindness. • We are a voice for change and justice. • We build relationships based on trust. • We respect each other. • We are straightforward in all our dealings. • We believe in practical hands-on hard work. • We collaborate across all sectors of society.

We're grateful to have been a part of the recent panel discussion hosted by London Heritage Quarter, as we shared insights from our work to prevent and end rough sleeping💫 It was great to hear from other organisations including The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, St Mungo's, Westminster City Council, and Turning Point working within this sector as we discussed the importance of early intervention and long-term, wraparound support for those experiencing street homelessness.
With rough sleeping and homelessness being critical issues across the UK, we’re proud to collaborate closely with a range of organisations to tackle this challenge within our community. It was fantastic to highlight the exceptional work being done in rough-sleeping and outreach at our recent panel discussion. From early intervention and responsive support to long-term solutions, these organisations offer a wide range of services, including immediate welfare assistance, resettlement programs, and healthcare provisions. Many thanks to our panelists from The Passage, The Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, St Mungo's, Westminster City Council, and Turning Point. Also to the Metropolitan Police for sharing insight around anti-social behaviour and enforcement. For our Harvest Festival this year at St Giles-in-the-Fields Church we are encouraging those who are able to make a financial contribution to The Passage Charity which is working to end homelessness and rough sleeping. You can make donations online at this link: https://lnkd.in/egKCXakb Please join me at 11am or 6.30pm on Sunday 6th October if you are able. In the morning I will be exploring how the scriptures encourage us to grow our 'felt sense' - inspired by #WorldMentalHealthDay on 10th October. In the evening I will draw on the life and writings of one of the ‘St Giles Blackbirds’ - Robert Wedderburn, a British-Jamaican radical and abolitionist, inspired by #BlackHistoryMonth St Giles-in-the-Fields, 60 St Giles High Street, London, WC2H 8LG
