About us
The Pipeline Industries Guild was formed in 1957. Since then, it has evolved to be the only association world-wide to cater directly for the needs of the pipeline industry, regardless of engineering discipline, application, or qualification. The Guild's membership comprises those with interests in pipelines world-wide, transporting hydrocarbon products, chemicals, water, wastewater, and many other substances, both on and offshore. All are governed by the industry's twin need to combine quality with safety, while at the same time meeting all the latest environmental and legislative requirements. The Guild is the respected authority within all branches of the pipeline industry, and there are few pipeline engineering problems its members cannot solve. Part of its increasing and unique strength is the Guild's ability to attract members from all sides of the pipeline industry, whether they be concerned with deep-sea pipelines or with the latest developments on land in no-dig and minimal-disturbance pipe and duct-laying technology.

Site Visit - FutureGrid at Spadeadam - 14th November 2024 Join The Pipeline Industries Guild Net-Zero Transition panel for a technical site visit to FutureGrid, National Gas Transmission's high-pressure hydrogen test facility at RAF Spadeadam in Cumbria to demonstrate that the network can safely transport hydrogen. Don't miss this unique opportunity to visit FutureGrid to gain a better understanding of how National Gas is preparing for the Future. This event will be worth a visit. As the UK prepares for the transition to hydrogen, it’s vital to demonstrate that the National Transmission System (NTS) and existing gas pipelines and assets can operate safely with hydrogen. FutureGrid is providing vital insights into hydrogen transportation and blending to support the full-scale conversion to hydrogen. National Gas transmission has created the FutureGrid high-pressure test facility at DNV Spadeadam to carry out a wide range of essential hydrogen tests using recently decommissioned NTS assets. These tests will enable the assessment of the effects of hydrogen on NGT’s pipes and assets, and on the operation of the network, to develop processes and safety standards that will allow the running of a safe and reliable national hydrogen transmission network.
