The event is powered by Capital&Centric and I'm happy to have played a small part in persuading a couple of the Mayors to compile a playlist and join Tim Heatley and the gang at the O2 Academy Leeds. • Buzzing to have been chosen by AREF (The Association of Real Estate Funds) as its charity partner 🎉 🥳 🪅 With a mission to make the property investment industry better, and with over 50 funds as Members (with a collective net asset value of over £50bn!) AREF is an incredible organisation that we can't wait to intro the Brainees to 🧠 💷 ✨

🌟 AREF DEI Taskforce Collaborates with Regeneration Brainery 🌟 We’re proud to announce a new collaboration between the AREF DEI Taskforce and Regeneration Brainery – a charity whose mission aligns strongly with our 2025 focus on social mobility. Regeneration Brainery is an award-winning aspirational academy that works with over 4,000 young people each year 🌍, helping them explore careers in property and regeneration 🏙️. Through hands-on workshops, work experience, and mentoring, they connect 14–21-year-olds from underrepresented backgrounds with real insight and opportunity 💡. The property sector continues to face a growing skills shortage 📉 and lacks representation from a broad range of voices. Regeneration Brainery is addressing this by boosting diversity, tackling barriers to entry, and helping shape a more inclusive and resilient future for the industry 🛠️. You’ll be seeing more of their CEO, Michele Steel, throughout the year as we promote their work across the AREF network. The Taskforce will also be organising a fundraiser later this year to support their important work. 🎥 Take a moment to read more and watch this short but powerful video about their mission on our website: https://lnkd.in/e7rhH-mS 🌐 If you’d like to become involved with Regeneration Brainery, visit: https://lnkd.in/ecG8DEDE 🙏 Special thanks to our dedicated DEI Taskforce members for their efforts in selecting this year's charity and driving this collaboration forward Sophie Reguengo, Sarah Walker (Alder), Stefan Chinniah, Faye Crook, Lakhmi Halaith, Rachel Fowler, Mel Ozbay-Ali, Clare Whyte. #AREF #DEI #SocialMobility #RealEstate #RegenerationBrainery #Inclusion #Mentoring #FutureTalent #PropertyIndustry #CollaborationForChange #arefnews #investmentmanagement #realestate #realestatefunds #propertyinvestment #property #sustainability #futuregen #fundmanagement #realestateinvestment

  • A Sheffield icon and one last big challenge… 🌆💡 The final day of Sheffield Bootcamp kicked off with an exclusive tour of the iconic Park Hill, led by Urban Splash and the legendary Graham from the Residents’ Committee. His insight into the building’s past and present brought the space to life, and of course, we couldn’t leave without a group picture on the iconic ‘I Love You Bridge’! ❤️🏢 From there, we hit the streets of the Steel City with BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd), diving into the exciting transformation of Sheffield Hallam University’s new sites. But the journey didn’t stop there! Arup, CBRE UK, BAM UK & Ireland, and Sheffield Hallam University joined the mix, giving students an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the teams and expertise driving these massive city-changing projects. Seeing first-hand how ideas become reality, they explored everything from cutting-edge design to real-world problem-solving in urban development. And for the grand finale? A high-stakes design challenge! Students reimagined a rooftop terrace for one of the new university buildings—bringing big ideas in accessibility, community, and sustainability to the table. Who knows? These bold visions might just shape the future! 🚀 From the projects we've explored, the Brainees we've met, and the promising future of the city, Sheffield has truly delivered. The energy, ambition, and creativity on display have been nothing short of inspiring - Sheffield, it has been so good to be back! 🔥 #SheffieldBootcamp #UrbanFuture #RegenerationBrainery #NextGenDesign

  • Hard hats on, high-vis ready – Day 3 was all about getting hands-on! 🚧🏗️ We hit the ground running at Cannon Brewery, where Capital&Centric gave us an exclusive look at their huge regeneration project. Curtins, Planit, CHROMA and Urbana came along for the ride, sharing insights into their roles within this mammoth restoration project - from structural engineering and landscape design to project management and planning. Students got a real taste of what it takes to bring a site like this back to life! Next, we headed to Peter & Paul’s offices for a behind-the-scenes look at their creative process before an inspiring talk from Paul Turner at AtkinsRéalis on his journey from student to Regional Director. 🚀 He also shared insights into careers in Project Management and Quantity Surveying, plus apprenticeship opportunities at Atkins. Then, Urbana led a session on planning applications, using Cannon Brewery as a case study. From ecology surveys to flood risks and transport access, students had to prioritise key assessments to ensure a smooth planning process. To top it off, the Regen B team delivered a masterclass on securing apprenticeships, followed up with top tips and tricks for using LinkedIn to build connections and create a better future. 💼✨ Day 4 takes us to one of Sheffield’s most famous locations … and a challenge like no other! 🔥🏙️ #SheffieldBootcamp #RegenerationInAction #FutureLeaders

We're partnering with Regeneration Brainery for another three years! 🏠   Together, we're working to tackle the skills shortage in the UK property sector - expanding their programme into more UK cities this year.   Since 2021, our colleagues have helped to give young people hands-on experience and mentorship through bootcamps and events. Going forward, Regeneration Brainery will now be able to expand these activities in Leeds, Bristol, Newcastle and Sheffield.

  • Sheffield, we have arrived! 💥 Day 1 of Sheffield Brainery Week kicked off in Steel City, bringing sunny Yorkshire vibes and an inspiring deep dive into the city’s incredible regeneration. First stop: Eyewitness Works by Ollo ✨ Capital&Centric gave us an exclusive look inside this stunning restoration project - made famous by Channel 4’s The Big Interiors Battle. The Brainees got hands-on, dressing their own show apartment, and let’s just say … we’ve uncovered some serious design talent! 🛋️ Next up: Fitzwilliam Street & Heart of the City developments 🌆🌱 We explored some of Sheffield’s major regeneration hotspots, including Pounds Park, Carver Street, Cambridge Street Collective, and Leah’s Yard. Planit took us on a tour, bringing their placemaking passion to life. After a quick test of the park (because what’s work without play?!), Brainees channelled their inner urban designers - creating their own park extensions and shaping visions for the cities of the future. And this is just the beginning … Day 2 we’re heading into one of Sheffield’s most talked-about spaces! 👀🏢 #RegenerationBrainery #FutureBuiltSheffield #SheffieldBootcamp
