RLB Singapore hosted their annual seminar last Friday at ParkRoyal @ Pickering for clients and business partners, where the Directors discussed current issues in Singapore’s evolving construction industry. With over 200 attendees, the event was a resounding success. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us and made it a memorable event! The seminar kicked off with William Lim sharing his thoughts on successful project delivery for complex developments. Colin Kin presented on emerging trends in contracts and procurement, while Lai Sun Mei covered digital solutions for cost management. Finally, Silas Loh provided an update on construction cost trends. The seminar concluded with a lively open forum where attendees engaged with our panel of speakers on pressing industry issues, and the mindsets we need to adopt, to transform our built environment. We greatly appreciate the participation and support of our valued clients and industry friends and look forward to hosting more fruitful events in the future. When it opened in July 2023, The Pā was the largest capital project in the The University of Waikato’s 60-year history. This mass timber multipurpose building includes a wharenui, or meeting house, that brings together students, staff and the community. Home to the Faculty of Māori and Indigenous Studies and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, The Pā is a hub for social interaction, functionality and cultural connection. Located at the University’s Hillcrest campus in Hamilton, The Pā took home the Colliers Project Leaders Education Property Award at the 2024 Property Council New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknall RLB Property Industry Awards. One of 18 nominees in the category, and among 141 entries nationwide, The Pā was hailed by the judges as a “standout example of a building deeply rooted in local culture and designed to bring the community together”. Creating the largest timber roof in the Southern Hemisphere has us BEAM-ing with joy at the new Sydney Fish Market! The team are currently installing 594 sustainable glulam timber beams, forming the roof’s striking lattice design, arguably one of the project’s most recognisable features. Three years in the making, we’d especially like to thank the global and local expertise of our dedicated project team and glulam delivery partners Rubner Timber Engineering, Xcel Group Of Companies and Theca. Their collaborative effort has been instrumental in the planning and execution, from procurement and arranging specialised land and sea transport for the timber from the Italian Dolomites, to completing the complex installation over the last few months. Watch for a deep dive into the design and logistical considerations involved in bringing this landmark to life. Well done team! #builttooutperform

Key points in this issue: ▪ Impacts of population trends ▪ Easing cost pressures in 2024 ▪ Investment outlook ▪ Stabilisation of construction cost inflation ▪ Indicators of softer construction activity ▪ Labour market conditions ▪ Continued infrastructure investments Read RLB’s analysis ▸ https://lnkd.in/geHxmqc9
