About us
RMI Architects are an award winning design studio based in Belfast but with work across UK and Ireland. We are committed to creating Architecture that can positively influence our environment and enrich our lives and we endeavour to design buildings that are responsive to their context, are well-crafted and which have the potential to inspire. We work across a wide range of sectors and scales and our approach is underpinned by our ambition to Respond, Make and Inspire. We enjoy working with Clients who share our passion for creating great buildings and places but we also understand that delivering successful projects is about more than great design. We recognise that great design also has to work within commercial realities and that delivering successful projects is very much a team effort. At RMI we work closely with our Clients to establish their requirements and aspirations at the outset. We translate this into a clear vision for the project, foster collaboration among the Client, Stakeholders, Design Team and Contractor and provide leadership to ensure the vision is translated into a successful project which exceeds expectations.

Thanks Larry Murphy and Belfast Walking Tours we had a great afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon we had the privilege of taking this fabulous award winning team from RMI Architects on our architectural heritage tour. RMI are one of Belfast's longest established architectural practices and have been at the forefront of many iconic transformational projects (Waterfront Hall, Arc Apartments, the Kelvin) and conservation projects (Titanic Hotel, Weaving Works, the Pearl) to name only but a few! Our tour started at Belfast City Hall and the architecture around Donegall Square and finished in Cathedral Quarter BID, Belfast at the The Merchant Hotel Belfast Belfast architecture is full of history and many of its buildings have had fascinating lives. You can find out so much about Belfast by just looking up and looking around at its historic buildings – they tell their own stories, not just about the individual buildings and the people who built them but also of the city at that time and about the development of the city. They are story books in themselves, stories about the people who shaped the city – the architects, the merchants, the industrialists, the sculptors and builders, the workers and also the significant events ('the Blitz', 'the Troubles' etc) that changed the city’s destiny, the shape of our city and our buildings. These are some of the buildings on our route yesterday Visit Belfast Visit Belfast Business Events Stephen Miskelly https://lnkd.in/eN85w5hw

We are delighted that our housing scheme in Hannahstown received planning approval yesterday evening by Belfast City Council. The project for 260 houses, which is much needed in the area, includes both general and complex needs housing and a community focused ‘Happi Principals’ apartment block for the over 55’s. The development also enjoys large areas of quality open space with enhanced biodiversity, generous private gardens and a children’s playground. Thanks to our client Radius Housing / Choice Housing Ireland Ltd and the design team Gravis Planning/TAYLOR & BOYD LLP/AECOM/ISD Consulting Engineers for their commitment to securing this approval. We look forward to delivering the next phase of this project. #housing #socialhousing #rmi #rmiarchitects #belfastarchitects #nothernirisharchitects #irisharchitecture

The Team at RMI enjoyed a visit to the Grade B+ Listed, ‘Pearl Assurance’ Building in Belfast. Emma Kelso and Victoria Crozier are delighted to have been involved in the restoration and fit-out of this stunning building, delivered by Rathbane Group, which enjoys spectacular views of the City Hall right in the heart of Belfast City Centre. Previously known as ‘Ocean Building’ it was designed by Young and Mackenzie and intended to accommodate shops and offices. The ‘Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation’ occupied the ground floor offices, as well as the safe deposit, basement and ‘strong rooms’. Over the past 115 years the building has been used as office and shops by a variety of companies and businesses and has been modified in attempt to keep up with changing regulations. The most recent high-quality refurbishment of the first to fifth floor offices, which are accessed from Donegall Square East, was carried out by Mivan Ltd. This has provided over 200 desk spaces helped by the rear extension on the second and third floor. Office users can avail of the additional outdoor terrace space provided by the extension which is accessed via an internal social space. The existing two retail units on the ground floor are currently undergoing development which will activate the frontage at this prominent location. #restoration #fitout #belfast #belfastarchitecture #rmiarchitects #rmi #listedbuilding #gothicrevival #niarchitecture #northernirisharchitecture #irisharchitecture #northernirisharchitects
