Congratulations to Jonathan Lees Architects LLP on this incredible achievement at the Natural Stone Awards 2024! It was a privilege for Stonewood Builders to collaborate on this stunning Queen Anne-style country house. The exceptional craftsmanship of Phidias Neo Classical Ltd, paired with Hartham Park Bath Stone sourced from Lovell Stone Group, truly brought this vision to life. A recent refurbishment project for the Englefield Estate. The sawmill is a fabulous space, rich in history, which was a pleasure to work on.
The first phase of our long-term plan to regenerate the Estate Yard at the heart of Englefield Village is complete and has been marked by the Estate team’s move from a Victorian house into the newly refurbished Estate Office. We have worked carefully with architects, planners, builders and sustainability advisors over many years to sensitively convert the former sawmill at the Estate Yard into a modern, open-plan and sustainable workplace which respects the building’s industrial heritage. We’ve restored and retained the Cornish steam boiler, it’s engine and huge chimney stack. The flywheel adjoining the engine room, along with the gantry and pulley system, have also been retained and incorporated into the design. The saws have also been rehomed with the Hollycombe Trust steam museum in Surrey, where they are being preserved and put on display. Our Estates Director, Edward Crookes said: “This site has been the hub of work on the Estate for centuries – it’s just that the nature of work has changed.” He added: “Being more open plan is going to be helpful…it’s also going to help us on our journey to work more sustainably. It’s a one team philosophy and being in the village at the heart of the Estate, not remote from it, is important.” To read more about the conversion of the former sawmill and our vision to make the Estate Yard a thriving rural business hub, visit: https://lnkd.in/eE3kkMDJ With thanks to the whole Englefield Estate team and the project team, ADAM Architecture, Stonewood Builders Ltd, landscape architects Nicholsons and interior designers Kitesgrove #EnglefieldEstate #EstateOffice #RuralBusiness #Regeneration #Heritage

We feel so privileged to have worked on this amazing project alongside SPASE Design After a careful restoration, Historic England have now removed The Sherborne from it's Heritage at Risk register. What brilliant news for the Sherborne community! #heritage #restoration
The stunning Grade I listed Sherborne House in Newland, Dorset, has been removed from our #HeritageAtRisk register. 🥳 Built in 1720 for Henry Seymour Portman, the building features a striking grand stairwell with murals painted by James Thornhill, the same artist who painted the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral. It was used as a school from 1932 to 1992 before falling into disrepair. Thanks to a careful restoration project led by SPASE Design, the building now functions as an arts venue, The Sherborne, with a sensitively designed extension that supports its new use. 📷 Brett Charles Photography.

We’re thrilled to announce that Wraxall Yard has won the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2024 from RIBA. Led by Clementine Blakemore Architects, we transformed a disused Dorset dairy farm into an accessible community space. Here’s to inspiring spaces that bring people together! #Architecture #RIBA #WraxallYard #InclusiveDesign
🏆 The winner of the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2024 is Wraxall Yard by Clementine Blakemore Architects. With a focus on encouraging and nurturing new talent, the award exclusively recognises projects led by an early career project architect. Wraxall Yard sensitively restores and converts the ruins of an old Dorset dairy farm into highly accessible holiday lets with an educational smallholding and community space. The jury was impressed by how deeply both client and architect immersed themselves in the project. Through intense research, consultation, and collaboration, the ambition to create something beautiful where people of all abilities could engage with the natural world has been fully realised. ➡️ View the winning project: https://ow.ly/b3Vk50TMvEL 📷 Lorenzo Zandri, Emma Lewis #RIBAawards #StephenLawrence

♀️👷🏽♀️👷♀️👷🏻♀️👷🏼♀️👷🏾♀️♀️ It was a pleasure to host our second International Women’s Day event yesterday with such a talented group of employees. This year we took it as an opportunity to gather and share ideas on how we can continually improve the experience of women at Stonewood and inspire more women into our workforce. The collaborative workshop session we held sparked thoughtful discussions and will inform our strategy for inclusion going forwards. Stonewood are committed to making meaningful steps in delivering what our employees really want.
