TracrTM is an advanced technology platform developed by De Beers Group to underpin trust in diamond provenance. Through the use of leading-edge technologies - including blockchain, artificial intelligence, the internet of things and advanced security and privacy technologies – TracrTM enables confidence in a diamond's source throughout the diamond value chain. TracrTM is the world’s only distributed diamond blockchain that starts at the source and provides tamper-proof source assurance at scale, enabling De Beers Group’s rough diamond customers to provide an immutable record of a diamond’s provenance, and empowering jewellery retailers to have confidence in the origin of the diamonds they purchase. Tracr was first launched in 2018 and was named by Forbes as one of the world’s 50 leading blockchain solutions in 2020, 2022 and 2023

Our CEO Wesley Tucker had welcome surprise while in Botswana for the The Projects Magazine Future of Mining Summit
I lost my most prized possession when getting off a flight on my way to present at the #FutureOfMiningSummit in Gaborone last month. I left it in the front seat pocket of the plane (rookie mistake I know 🤦♂️ ). I told a colleague later that day and when they asked me if I’d buy a new one, I told them I wouldn’t need to, I was certain I would get it back. Why she asked? Because we’re in Botswana, and Botswana is a special place 😀 ! Fast forward 24 hours and coming through security at Sir Seretse Shama International Airport was one of the Air Botswana security team, with my Kindle in hand! I can safely say that in all the airports I fly through in a year, this would never happen in any of them. Botswana and The Batswana people are incredibly special, if you’ve never been get on-line and book yourself a well earned break with Air Botswana 👨✈️ 🛩 ! Thank you Air Botswana and your amazing team! #PushBW The Projects Magazine #Botswana Okavango Diamond Company Diamond Trading Company Botswana (Pty) Ltd

De Beers Group, via its subsidiary Tracr, has been on a seven-year journey to immortalise every diamond in the world in digital form with blockchain technology. It’s an enormous undertaking given the sheer volume of data necessary for the task: to capture it at the source and throughout a diamond’s production process, and then to secure it in an immutable way that is faultlessly trustworthy by the rest of the diamond industry and, of course, its customers. In order to achieve its aims, Tracr needed to access the world’s very best #blockchain expertise in order to tackle the enormous challenge of scaling the technology to meet its lofty goals. The story of a natural diamond is a tale as rich and ancient as any known to mankind. Now, thanks to Tracr, how that story is told is changing forever. Tracr is a start-up incubated inside De Beers Group with a single aim: Build technology capable of tracing every natural diamond in the world. In doing so, they hope to tell the positive social and environmental story behind every natural diamond and make the whole industry truly accountable. After several years of development, their blockchain-based solution is now in the wild and set to transform an ancient industry forever. COLLABORATION ANNOUNCEMENT: Tracr & Mountain Province Diamonds Inc. We are pleased to announce a joint testing initiative between Tracr and Mountain Province Diamonds Inc.. This collaboration marks an important step forward in our commitment to be open for the industry to participate in Tracr, and the potential for Mountain Province’s customers to further enhance efforts to promote the traceability of their diamonds in the future. We are currently engaged in a product testing phase with diamonds sourced from Mountain Province’s production from Gahcho Kue mine, situated in the remote Northwest Territories of Canada. We are excited about the potential for this collaboration to offer Mountain Province the ability to highlight the origin story of their diamonds’ discovery beneath Canada’s Northern Lights and working towards enabling their customers the opportunity to participate in Tracr in the future. The test is in partnership with InnovSeed - AI & Robotics Company DiaBot Manufacturer, as the testing technology provider with their DiaBot machine, and Bonas Group. Bonas has become the first tender house in the world capable of scanning rough diamonds onto the Tracr platform at scale. We thank both teams for their ongoing support and look forward to bringing Mountain Province diamonds on to the Tracr traceability platform.
We’re excited to share that we have started exploring integration with International Gemological Institute - IGI a well-regarded grading lab, with the aim to streamline the process for our participants to send their diamonds for grading and add that data to their Tracr diamond record. This integration would expand the Tracr ecosystem and allow us to further develop the quality of information that participants can upload about their diamonds throughout the value chain.

Americans are a diamond’s best friend! More diamonds are bought in the US than in any other country. So one of my constant priorities is work with the US government to ensure that De Beers Group’s diamonds are welcomed with open arms (and outstretched ring-fingers!). On a beautiful spring day here in Washington DC, we had the opportunity to discuss how we track the journey of our diamonds all the way from mines in Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa to ensure that consumers here have full confidence that they are purchasing an ethical stone that has done good at every point in its journey. But I also set out our plans to improve further. Tracr, our digital blockchain, will enable people who buy a diamond sourced by De Beers to map out its individual pathway from a rough stone to a polished beauty. Not only will this meet the new import requirements for G7 countries, it will also allow us to share the diamond stories we are so proud of.
