  • Great to meet with Manchester's new Chief Executive, Tom Stannard, and discuss our common goals to support growth for this great city. We're very proud that our project in Manchester City Centre, Mayfield, is a partnership between our company, Manchester City Council, LCR Property and Transport for Greater Manchester - we're clear that public private partnership is the very best way to deliver growth that benefits everyone and we look forward to working with Tom as he settles into his new role shepherding Manchester's great future.

Chief Executive at Manchester City Council

I’ve spent quality time this week at Manchester City Council getting closer to some of our major housing and regeneration schemes, alongside meeting our fantastic teams wrapped around the delivery of these projects. This has included building and renewing relationships with our delivery partners in the private sector, many of whom I am pleased to have known for some years in Greater Manchester. Yesterday, this included valuable visits to: - MIX MANCHESTER adjacent to Manchester Airport, where our 2024 strategic regeneration framework will bring forward over 2,000,000 ft.² of innovation, R&D, advanced manufacturing and hotel/office space including a focus on life sciences capacity - thanks Gareth Jackson and good to see you - Wythenshawe town centre, where it was good to catch up with our JV partners Muse and Stuart Rogers to discuss the major redevelopment of the civic and surrounding town centre - Mayfield Manchester with Mike Hood and our partners in the LandsecU+I team - this partnership is set to deliver 2.3M GIA ft.² of office space, 1500+ homes and 13,000 new jobs in a ground breaking city centre brownfield regeneration scheme with the wonderful new Mayfield park at its heart - Holt Town, where we are working closely with multiple partners to develop a new mixed-use neighbourhood east of the city centre, bringing forward thousands of new homes, high-quality green spaces, cultural facilities and affordable workspace in this hugely important gateway neighbourhood connecting Ancoats and New Islington with the Etihad campus - The Etihad campus and Sport City, with Danny Wilson from Manchester City FC, seeing progress on the North stand development alongside our wider ambitions for the future of Sport City connected to the recent opening of the Co-op Live Arena and more in the area - Victoria North, one of the UK’s largest and most ambitious regeneration projects and amongst the biggest in our history in Manchester, delivering over 15,000 homes north east of the City Centre, supporting population growth of over 40,000, creating seven new distinct neighbourhoods on largely under utilised brownfield opportunity sites with substantial social and affordable housing already on site at Collyhurst Village. Thanks to our partners at FEC UK and Tom Fenton for spending the time with me. Particular thanks to our fantastic Growth and Development team for their collective efforts and leadership over many years building the foundations to take these important schemes forward, and our delivery partners, it was good to see many of you again yesterday too - Becca Heron David Lynch Joe Martin Hilary Sayers Pat Bartoli Shelagh McNerney Bek Seeley Yvonne O'Malley 🐝 Richard Cohen Ian Slater Lydia Stroud amongst others! Much more to come from us in Manchester on all of this and more, and a great basis for taking our proposition forward to Government and to #MIPIM2025 this year. #localgov #Manchester #regeneration Bev Craig

LOLA Landscape Architects was selected by LandsecU+I and TOWN as landscape designers to transform a 48-ha brownfield in North-East Cambridge (UK), and design the masterplan for Hartree, a new 120-acre residential development. Hartree is the last large-scale, brownfield regeneration site in Cambridge. A new residential-led mixed-use quarter of 5,600 homes, with schools, shops, workspaces and community facilities. In landscape design, nature and people come together, stimulating slow-mobility and providing direct connections to the natural world. Habitat conservation and new, inclusive multi-use spaces, will enhance well-being and foster a vibrant, sustainable environment. With a focus on its history and existing on-site legacy, Hartree showcases a unique identity, bridging nature and its post-industrial character. The strategy for high-quality open spaces focuses on people-centered activities while preserving existing natural habitats and providing new ones, aligning with Cambridge’s vision for vibrant, inclusive urban environments. This approach fosters intergenerational interaction, offering play spaces, multifunctional areas, green routes, and water-centric landscapes, ensuring both ecological integrity and community engagement. Future secured for Mayfield’s iconic Star & Garter 📣 The Star & Garter, a critical part of #Manchester’s vibrant music history and #Mayfield’s cultural offer, has long been a beloved part of the emerging city district. Now, thanks to the investment of Broadwick – a global events business behind Depot Mayfield and partners with The Warehouse Project – the future of the Star & Garter is guaranteed. With a commitment to honouring the legacy of its much-loved landlord, Andy Martin, the venue’s unique atmosphere and charm will be preserved while essential infrastructure improvements can now take place. Part of the city’s ‘toilet circuit’, the Star and Garter has been a key venue for up-and-coming artists, with the likes of Radiohead, Oasis and PJ Harvey all touring this network of pubs and backrooms to hone their now internationally lauded live acts. This investment in the Star & Garter will secure the legacy of Manchester's globally respected music scene, and strengthen the diverse leisure and cultural offer here at Mayfield, with this growing neighbourhood already embedded into the fabric of the wider city of Manchester. Our For People, City and Planet, mixed use masterplan Hartree in Northeast Cambridge has made The Pineapple Awards shortlist in the ‘Future Place’ category, with The Developer and Festival of Place Working together with LandsecU+I and TOWN. with Cambridge City Council and Anglian Water Services we have developed a new, much-needed type of responsive 5-minute place with good streets and quality public realm - open to everyone - connected and rooted in Cambridge. There are so many takeaways from this project, and it’s been such a pleasure to support this ‘real’ and highly progressive vision. What has made it special was the dedication to the Quality of Life Framework alongside a long-term public engagement; working hard to reach out to existing communities in all sorts of innovative ways; festivals, ideas exchange and workshops. By taking a granular approach, including a vivid mix of different types of homes (40% affordable, cohousing and more), tenures and plots, where active ground floors contain a blend of commercial as well as community amenities including culture and workshops; we have shaped a masterplan for an active town environment, a supportive place and neighbourhood, long-term regenerative and one day there to enjoy. With a focus on health and wellbeing, the wild, biodiverse, green-blue landscape designed by LOLA Landscape Architects integrates Hartree within nature and the adjacent Fens. The promise is to meet 20% BNG, partly through the Playline and other key green spaces and networks that enable children and the greater community to move freely, safely and pleasantly to school, work, Cambridge North Station, and beyond. Thank you to the whole client team, Cambridge Shared Planning Service, councillors and the general public, for willingness to engage in such a constructive and open manner. And of course, the fantastic team of specialists including Useful Projects, Pell Frischmann Bell Phillips, Carter Jonas, Haworth Tompkins and ECF. With special mention to 5th Studio, Feilden Fowles, NOOMA Studio and Alison Brooks Architects Winners will be announced at the Festival of Place in London, April 2025.

LandsecU+I CEO, Mike Hood, reacts to the Government’s announcement this weekend, that it’s set to address planning reform to fuel growth with the Chancellor: “… championing a regeneration project around Old Trafford in Manchester that will see new housing, commercial and public space.”   Mike said: “This is another welcome step from the Government to de-clutter the planning system and unlock growth.   “As major investors in the Greater Manchester region it’s positive to see this Government backing the region and providing the tools it needs to realise its potential. We hope to see further interventions like this to unlock growth in more cities across the country.”   View the full news release here: https://lnkd.in/edtuYeSF

🍍 We've been nominated for three Festival of Place Pineapple Awards 2025 🍍 Lewisham - Shortlisted twice! Community Engagement: The Pineapples recognised our dedication to public consultation and incorporating community feedback into our plans for a new centre for #Lewisham. Our focus has been to engage the community in many different ways this year, through events with local groups, our consultation space at No.25 in the shopping centre, hosting events with the Esports Youth Club to engage specifically with young people, hosting DJ workshops with Sister Midnight and so much more. Future Public Realm: Shortlisted for our vision to transform Lewisham Shopping Centre into a green district with a thriving public realm. Our ambitious reimagining of the shopping centre will introduce a multi-level meadow landscape at the centre of 8-acres of public space, reinvigorating the high street and retail offer, providing a platform for music and culture, up to 1,700 high quality homes for the people of Lewisham. Hartree for Future Place: Our third nomination is for #Hartree. Our innovative approach to creating a sustainable and inclusive community in Cambridge, prioritising the five-minute neighbourhood concept. Hartree will enable access to essential day-to-day services within a five-minute walk or cycle, encouraging the community to lead healthy lifestyles. Our focus of the project will be to create an environment that's open to all, integrate with nature and live within environmental means to deliver for people, city and planet.
