UAV365 surveyed Fort Augustus locks using the Trimble Geospatial X9 laser scanner. Topographic data was collected with a Trimble S7 total station along each of the 6 canal lock gates, spanning 300m in length. Control in the form of fixed black and white targets was also collected with the total station, enabling the laser scanning data to be geolocated. The final result features a fully geolocated point cloud of the locks with an overlaid topographic CAD drawing, showcased in the video below. It was then meshed and texturised as shown by the divided graphic below, featuring both the model and raw image of the site. We are hiring | Civil Engineer - Glasgow Office We are looking for a degree qualified civil engineer, ideally with experience of working in a design consultancy, but graduates are also encouraged to apply for this role. The job will require a motivated individual who is technically and commercially capable as well as a good communicator. Rail experience would be an advantage but is not essential. A large proportion of the role will be working in our civils team and you should, therefore, have design experience in some or all of the following: slope stability, foundation design, ground anchors, gravity and embedded retaining wall design, design of formwork, working platforms, culvert designs and report writing. The individual should have a sound technical background and be competent in the use of general MS Office, AutoCAD, Strand 7 or equivalent FE analysis software and Slope/W or equivalent. The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and CDM Regulations. The ideal candidate should be able to: • Undertake concept & detailed design • React quickly to emerging requirements • Be able to communicate via clear and well-presented drawings • Work efficiently to meet tight deadlines • Technical review of designs Qualifications: • Degree qualified in civil engineering (Ideally BEng/MEng min 2:1), working towards membership of ICE • Clean driving licence.
