There is a famous Lowry painting called ‘Going to the match’ it is thought depicting fans going to Burnden Park, the former home of Bolton Wanderers. Today, another moment in history was captured… this time Everton Football Club fans making their way to their new home at Bramley Moore Dock, the second test event, coincidentally against Bolton Wanderers Football Club For me, the journey began and ended with a train journey, proof that we can travel to major sports venues without reliance on the private car. To be honest though, the journey began six years ago, with those first conversations between Peel L&P and Everton Football Club and soon the sketches of Dan Meis, FAIA . Since then, my Planit Virtual Planit colleagues have worked tirelessly with the team, Liverpool City Council Liverpool Waters and our supply chain, guided by Laing O'Rourke to create what I believe will be see as the greatest fan plazas in the Premier League and beyond. History lies everywhere, care and attention to detail visible in every aspect of the public realm. From new wall openings to bike stands and wind baffles. It’s not often I say this, but on many levels, this was the perfect project. All the teams have been ace; the site and historic assets unique; the views unparalleled. But, on top of it all, for me, one person stands out (beyond Dan Meis, FAIA of course) and that’s our ‘boss’ Colin Chong, now the Everton Football Club CEO. This day was his finest hour. Designed for the University of Manchester, plans have been submitted for the relocation of the university’s central catering unit and campus facilities management accommodation. The latest #ActiveTravel Annual Report has revealed the impact of the Bee Network with more people walking and cycling and a reduction in shorter car journeys. This is great news for #Manchester. When the Bee Network was launched in 2019, VP produced a series of high level #visualisations as part of the consultation process. Our work on the Todmorden Market Canopy was featured in Place Yorkshire last week as part of the wider redesigned public space in the heart of the town. The transformation focuses on creating a flexible space for the community. Pam Warhurst, chair of Todmorden Town Deal, has said: "The latest town centre plans are a major step...in offering a fantastic space for showcasing our unique community led arts, events, and heritage opportunities.” The £3.5m ‘public places in the heart of Todmorden' project is part of a £17.5m regeneration package secured by the town. Today, we’re delighted to share with you the second of our Planit Studio Stories.    Working alongside our dear friends at WithLove.Studio, we felt it was time to tell our stories to a wider audience. Sharing why our studios are located where they are; our ‘rootedness’ to the places and communities in which we work, and the importance of time to curate transformative impact through every project.    The films are also the stories of our people – the voices that may not always get heard. We’re proud of our team and these are the voices of our future leaders of an #employeeowned Planit.    Our Liverpool story is told through our Planit Studio, which is nestled in the heart of Royal Albert Docks.    Planit’s work in Liverpool has spanned decades and miles – charting recent history through adaption and reuse of land and buildings that were forgotten or unloved as trade domination declined. It’s been a rare privilege to sit as part of a series of seemingly unconnected projects along Liverpool’s waterfront.    Alongside General Projects and Liverpool City Council, the next few years will see us carefully peel back the layers of history to transform the dock landscape into a greener, more welcoming, and accessible place – just one part of Europe’s largest Deep Retrofit project.  Beyond, stretching north, is one of the most ambitious plans for Liverpool since the original dock network was created during its maritime heyday. Liverpool Waters was conceived through the vision and determination of Peel Founder, John Whittaker, and will see place adaption on a global scale.    Vision and determination are defiant characteristics of ‘Liverpoolness’. A city built on a spirit of optimism and innovation. Like the International Garden Festival, Royal Albert Dock and Liverpool Waters’ continual change, redundancy followed by re-invention , are of huge importance to Liverpool, as is football! Exciting news for Live Nation Entertainment as it launches its first permanent venue in Africa with the construction of The Dome, adjacent to FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. This structure, with a capacity of 10,500 people, will be a hub for local and pan-African talent with Afrobeats star Tems announcing her first solo headline show at the venue in March 2025. VP were thrilled to support this project with these CGIs and animation.
