  • We are still over the moon from last night’s win! 🥳🏆 Haven't heard the news? We were crowned the Most Improved Council in the UK at the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Awards! This is a massive achievement that reflects the incredible progress our borough has made in recent years. Huge thanks to our dedicated staff, elected members, and partners – you made this possible! 👏 A key driver of this success has been the expansion of digital services. By making council services more accessible online, we've improved access and outcomes for our residents. This is just the beginning, and we're excited to continue building a brighter future for our borough. 🚀 🌟 #ProudToBeWalsall #LGCAwards #MostImprovedCouncil #WinsForWalsall

  • 📍🛒 This week, we proudly launched our FIRST #CommunityShop, a significant step towards supporting our communities amidst the rising cost of living in the UK. These shops offer a variety of essential items, including food, personal care products, pet supplies, and household cleaning materials, all at significantly reduced prices. Our Community Shops are designed to assist families and elderly residents who are facing financial challenges. Importantly, any income generated is reinvested into future produce and operational costs, ensuring sustainability. We have allocated £200,000 in funding to establish these not-for-profit shops. The first shop has opened at the Stan Ball Centre in Bloxwich, with additional financial support provided to organisations in Bentley and Darlaston to establish further locations.

    • The first community shop was officially opened by Leader of Walsall Council, Councillor Garry Perry, at the Stan Ball Centre, Bloxwich on 28 January 2025.

  • Our regeneration plans for new railway stations in Willenhall and Darlaston have been recognised as one of the West Midlands Growth Company's top developments to watch in 2025! 👀 As we go 'full steam ahead' into the year, we're thrilled to be delivering this transformative project with our partners at the West Midlands Rail Executive. These new stations will significantly reduce journey times to key destinations like Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Walsall, making travel up to three times quicker! 🚆 In addition, we will continue to work towards a new railway station for Aldridge too. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dWzccFDX #WalsallRegen

  • Work has successfully been completed to tackle flooding issues at Grenfell Road Allotments! 🌿🚜 Through our corporate social responsibility programme, we teamed up with Brownhills Asphalt Tarmac Ltd who stepped in with their plant machinery to dredge the site in December 2024. This crucial work involved clearing unwanted vegetation and silt from the brook, ensuring that water can flow freely and reducing the risk of flooding for the foreseeable future. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this happen! 👏 ➡️ Interested in getting involved in our corporate social responsibility programme?
