  • Today is World Mental Health Day!  At Grain LNG, we're committed to supporting the mental well-being of our employees, throughout the year. Here's a look back at some of our Journey: Our journey really began in 2014 with our pledge of time to change. Justin Bateman  from Gravesend Mind visited us to discuss strategies for mental health awareness. We introduced Mental Health First Aid training, equipping our team to offer better support to each other. We explored workplace mental health through interactive sessions with Enact, who use drama to highlight important issues. Another expert from Mind shared their knowledge on fostering mental well-being. We heard from Steve Cradock, who discussed his battle with PTSD, and Steve Wolfe, who shared how surviving a  heart attack transformed his approach to mental health. Helen Lawson from Wellbeing Training Solutions encouraged us to focus on the present, much like our canine friends, and Jack Green, a former GB Olympian, opened up about the mental pressures of elite sports. With 1 in 4 people experiencing mental health challenges each year in England, it's crucial we continue to support each other and challenge the stigma associated with mental health. #GrainLNG #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportEachOther

  • A proud moment for the team at Grain LNG as our latest accreditation, a response to a call for the gas industry to find and eliminate methane emissions, has led to a world first. The goal of MiQ - Methane Intelligence initiative is to eliminate avoidable methane emissions from the natural gas supply chain as we transition to a world powered by cleaner energy, and Grain LNG is proud to be the first LNG site in the world to receive such certification. Grain LNG is not only the largest terminal in Europe, but a world class facility, reflected in our diversity of customers, operational excellence and now methane management. We hope to see a new gas chain with certificated and audited entities all providing full transparency on emissions. Thanks to all involved.

In a world first, our National Grid Grain LNG Limited terminal has been verified by MiQ - Methane Intelligence, the global leader in methane emissions measurement and certification. This places Grain LNG as the first LNG port in the world to receive MiQ’s accreditation, and the first facility outside of North America. Why is this important? This accreditation gives LNG buyers the ability to choose lower methane emission cargoes for the first time, reducing our overall impact on the environment.  In addition, US producers have until January 2027 to align with EU methane emissions rules so this accreditation is an industry must. 👏 Congratulations to Grain LNG and the team for achieving this well ahead of schedule, and setting the site up for a strong future right at the heart of Europe’s gas markets. • Preparing for the Kent Downs Ultra Challenge 24 members of our Grain LNG team are set to participate in the Kent Downs Ultra Challenge on the 12th of October, tackling either a 25km or a 50km route.  To get ready, eight determined members undertaking the 50km journey completed a 30km training walk recently.  The scenic route took them from Rochester to Aylesford and Snodland, before returning to Rochester. This essential practice helped our team prepare for the event next week.  It’s wonderful to see the team's enthusiasm as they train to support our chosen charity, MEGAN CIC Voluntary sector mental health organisation, which empowers and supports individuals with mental health challenges in Kent and Medway. Stay tuned for more updates, and if you’d like to support our cause, please visit our fundraising page here: https://lnkd.in/exdXJbJr #GrainLNG #UltraChallenge #MentalHealthSupport #CommunityEngagement

  • What is a HAZOP? A HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) is a method used to ensure that industrial processes or systems are safe and operate effectively. It involves a team of experts who carefully examine every part of the system to find any potential dangers or problems that could happen.  Why is a HAZOP important? HAZOP studies are important because they help keep people safe, mitigate risks, follow rules, and improve the workings of the system. Why do we conduct HAZOP studies? At Grain LNG, we conduct HAZOP studies because we take safety seriously and are always looking for ways to improve. It's a way for us to continuously improve our processes and systems. #SafetyFirst #OperationalExcellence #IndustrialSafety #HAZOP

  • Further recognition in Ergonomist Magazine It's rewarding to see the continued recognition of our team's hard work. After winning the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors 'Demonstrated Impact Award' in April, our efforts have been featured in the September 2024 issue of the Ergonomist magazine. Richard Scaife explains why he nominated our Grain LNG Import Terminal for the award and praises our innovative approach to fatigue risk management. Stuart Clack, Dr Stuart Hill, and Alan Dillien from the Grain LNG team have been key in driving these initiatives forward. Our project has been noted as potentially industry-leading by HSE specialists, showcasing our commitment to safety and operational excellence. Despite challenges such as the pandemic and increased operational demands, our team has effectively identified and managed fatigue "hot spots," ensuring the wellbeing of our staff.  Implementing a comprehensive Fatigue Risk Management Plan and innovative tools like the Fatigue Assessment Tool (FAT) and Operational Fatigue Plan (OFP) have markedly improved our operations and safety measures. This recognition highlights our innovative approach and the dedication of our team to upholding the highest standards of safety and efficiency. • We are excited to announce the successful commissioning of the Phase 3 Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) at Grain LNG!  This achievement results from a remarkable collaboration between our site Projects, Maintenance, Operations, and Safety teams. It was a true team effort, highlighting the power of working together towards a common goal. By upgrading an obsolete system, we have ensured that our site remains compliant with the environmental permit. This upgrade is a significant step forward for our operations, as we now have the same high specification emissions monitoring system, supplied by SICK Sensor Intelligence. This allows us to maintain a consistently high level of environmental performance. Emissions monitoring plays a crucial role in our operations, ensuring that we minimise any negative impact on the local community, nature and wildlife. We are committed to protecting the environment and being responsible stewards of our surroundings. At GrainLNG, we remain dedicated to upholding the highest standards of environmental responsibility. This successful commissioning of the Phase 3 CEMS is another step forward in our journey towards responsible operations. #GrainLNG #EmissionsMonitoring #EnvironmentalPerformance

  • Did you catch the rare sight at Grain LNG on 16th September 2024?  Two distinct Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers, Orion Bohemia and Arctic Lady, docked side by side—a rare and impressive scene of LNG vessels both playing a major role in security of energy supply yet very different by design. Orion Bohemia: With its advanced membrane tanks, this state-of-the-art carrier can transport up to 180,000 cubic meters of LNG, representing a modern design often seen at Grain LNG. Arctic Lady: Contrasting with the Bohemia, Arctic Lady features the classic and reliable moss tank design. At 288 meters long, capable of carrying 148,000 cubic meters of LNG, playing an important role in meeting the UK's energy demands and beyond. Capturing these two vessels side by side is not just a visual treat; it’s a clear reminder of the engineering that supports our energy security. It’s a fitting moment for World Maritime Day, and one we are proud to share some photographs from. #WorldMaritimeDay #Maritime #GrainLNG #EnergySecurity
