Women Architects you need to know- Melike Altınışık (Turkiye) Melike Altınışık is a visionary Turkish architect known for her innovative and futuristic designs that integrate technology and nature. The Çamlıca Tower, designed by Melike Altınışık Architects (MAA), stands as a striking symbol of modern Istanbul. Completed in 2021, this 369-meter telecommunications and observation tower combines functionality with architectural elegance. Its dynamic, fluid design reflects a sense of motion and rhythm, and the structure transforms visually depending on the viewer’s perspective. The tower replaces numerous antennas on Çamlıca Hill and features observation decks, a restaurant, and panoramic elevators offering breathtaking views of Istanbul, including the Bosphorus and the Princes’ Islands. Leading industry voices, writers and academics Dr. Harriet Harriss, Naomi House, Monika Parrinder and Tom Ravenscroft, have garnered international plaudits for their eye-opening book 100 Women: Architects in Practice. Showcasing the largely overlooked stories of women currently making their mark in the architectural world, there have been launch events and press coverage for the book from Dubai to New York, Uzbekistan to South Africa. For the first time, they will make their findings tangible and accessible to the public through 100 Women Architects: The Exhibition. Geographically balanced to feature architects from 79 countries across six continents, the exhibition will amplify their voices, and projects will be illustrated by photos and rendered as simplified 3D paper models, constructed by students from London’s RCA Architecture programme, under the guidance of Interior Design MA tutor Steve Jensen. From GENCORK stunning cork creations to @TySyml 's seaweed and mycelium designs to Sofia Hagen immersive 3D-printed art. Mamou-Mani ltd. captivated everyone with their sustainable, digitally fabricated installations, PAULCROFT LIMITED Studio impressed with recycled cork furniture, whilst BLAST DESIGN STUDIO, INC. Studio transformed waste into functional art with robotics. ButterflyAI Technologies showed how eco-friendly air purification can transform our indoor environments, Celine Darnaud vowed with the immersive experience for the mood light project, and CECOCECO's design solutions pushed the boundaries of sustainability.
