We are less than an hour away from the one of the biggest and best fireworks shows in the area - and it's happening in Seguin! Before we light up the sky, a very special THANK YOU is in order for our fireworks sponsors - they donated $5,000 each to make this year's show the absolute best one yet. City of Seguin Purchasing Manager Ashley Bruns has been chosen as the Employee of the Month for April 2024. In the short time since she's been Purchasing Manager, Ashley has taken her department (and the City of Seguin) to the next level by implementing new processes, procedures and services. Most notably, Ashley transitioned the city into a new era of competitive bidding when she implemented Bidnet, an online bidding platform. Ashley's high level of customer service shines when she provides guidance that can be easily understood by vendors. She is not only an exceptional leader/manager, but also a team player. In addition to supporting her staff with training, Ashley goes above and beyond to help other city departments when they have questions about bids, specs and purchasing procedures. Congratulation to Ashley for this well-deserved honor! Ashley is pictured receiving her award from City Manager Steve Parker. Allison Geisinger and Susan Caddell are also pictured.

CONGRATULATIONS to two City of Seguin employees who received a MAD (Making a Difference) Award on Monday afternoon from City Manager Steve Parker ~ Tommy McCormick (Water/Wastewater Dept.) and Kenneth Soefje (Schertz-Seguin Local Government Corporation)! This duo was honored for the exceptional teamwork they demonstrated to ensure specific electrical and water meters were in place at all Seguin fire stations for the installation of gear extractors. The new gear extractors, which are part of the SFD's cancer prevention program, helps remove toxins and carcinogens from firefighters' bunker gear after a fire. According to the company that installed the extractors, the City of Seguin was one of the best prepared municipalities they’ve ever worked with. Tommy and Kenneth's contributions make a difference (and a positive impact) to the health and safety of Seguin firefighters. Tommy (left) and Kenneth (right) are pictured with Mr. Parker (center).
