What do a self-taught painter, a national weightlifting competitor, and a stick shift truck driver have in common? They're all interns at Clark Nexsen! This summer, 14 multi-talented interns from seven universities brought energy and fresh perspectives to our team. From architecture to engineering, sustainability to structural design, our interns tackled real-world projects and made a genuine impact. They didn't just learn – they contributed innovative solutions daily. We hope they learned as much from us as we learned from them! Happy National Intern Day! We were pleased to once again host Grassfield STEM Academy students at our Virginia Beach office this year! During their visit, students engaged in hands-on activities and insightful discussions about architecture and engineering with our team. This year's event featured a full circle moment through Clayton Greer, a former Grassfield STEM Academy alumnus. Clayton, once an intern at Clark Nexsen, is now a full-time Architectural Designer with our firm. It's remarkable to witness the tangible impact of these educational partnerships firsthand. We're proud to continue supporting the next generation of industry professionals and look forward to potentially seeing one of these students back in our office one day! The Biotechnology Center of Excellence at Alamance Community College not only houses cutting-edge laboratories and classrooms but also addresses the critical need for dedicated student spaces beyond traditional learning environments. The design incorporates a new plaza with green space for outdoor gatherings, a tiered seating area that doubles as an outdoor classroom, and a second-floor balcony that enhances indoor-outdoor connectivity. These elements create a holistic learning ecosystem that extends education beyond laboratory walls. By reimagining campus life alongside advancing biotech education, this project sets a new standard for higher education facilities, fostering both academic excellence and student engagement.

We are happy to share Virginia Tech's new Upper Quad Residence Hall! Designed to support the growth of the Corps of Cadets to 1,400 students, this stunning Collegiate Gothic building offers 302 cadet beds and a host of modern amenities. The exteriors feature iconic Hokie stone with precast concrete accents and heraldry elements that celebrate the rich history of the Corps and the University. Inside, traditional dormitory-style rooms with double and triple occupancy are complemented by a variety of common spaces like floor lounges, a group kitchen, and a mud room. The design focuses on creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere, with light hues inspired by cadet uniforms and engaging color accents in public spaces. We are proud to have contributed to the transformation of the Upper Quad and support the mission of the Corps of Cadets. 📸 Cameron Triggs #GoHokies #VirginiaTech #UpperQuad #CorpsOfCadet #StudentLifeDesign
