Throughout the week, an emphasis was placed on cementing EIT Hub Silicon Valley's role as a 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗨-𝗦𝗩 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, opening up long-term opportunities for transatlantic collaboration. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗘𝗨 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀? 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 🌍 S𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗨-𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Jeff Bellisario, Executive Director of the Bay Area Council Economic Institute highlighted the economic potential in the Bay Area, and Gerard de Graaf welcomed participants at the #EUinSF event, solidifing the foundation for long-term cooperation between the EU and Silicon Valley. 🔑 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Participants met with industry leaders like Ken Singer from UC Berkeley Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET), who provided insights on accessing the most powerful innovation networks. They also gained valuable perspectives from Matt Ridenour, Head of Accelerator and Startup Ecosystem at Google, and @Julie Chen, Sr. Director of AEC Design Expansion Strategy at Autodesk, on design, making, and accelerating growth through cutting-edge tech. 🚀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: In-depth meetings with Elina Gorji of Plug and Play Tech Center and George Panagiotakopoulos from Berkeley SkyDeck are set to lead to meaningful partnerships, supporting the scaling of EU startups in key industries such as AI, health, and sustainability. JF Gauthier, CEO of Startup Genome, highlighted the immense opportunities for transatlantic collaboration through the SF innovation culture. These connections will open new doors for EU innovators to expand their reach in the US. 🇨🇦🇪🇺 Over 400 Innovators from Europe and Canada Joined Forces for Greentech at 'Bridging the Atlantic' 🌱   Last week, EIT Global Outreach, together with the Mission of Canada to the EU, hosted "Bridging the Atlantic" – a consortium-building event where over 400 innovators from Europe and Canada gathered to unlock #Greentech opportunities through #HorizonEurope.   🍁 We were thrilled by the level of participation and enthusiasm for cross-border collaboration. With #Canada’s recent association to Horizon Europe, this event marked a crucial step in forming impactful consortia to drive sustainability and innovation.   ✨ The event featured ✅ insights on partnering with Canada, ✅ an overview of Horizon Europe Greentech opportunities, ✅ best practices for successful Horizon Europe submissions, and ✅ regional strengths. 🇪🇺 🇬🇧 Connect & Experience UK 2024: A game-changing week in the UK sets the stage for breakthrough #EU_UK collaborations   Last week, EIT Hub UK successfully ran #Connect_and_ExperienceUK2024, bringing together #20 top tech leaders from #14 European countries to the UK to build innovative EU-UK collaborations.   This programme immersed participants in one of the world’s most vibrant ecosystems, creating immediate opportunities for #cross_border #partnerships that will drive EU #growth and #innovation. Throughout the week, an emphasis was placed on the power of #networks and the #ripple_effect of connections, demonstrating how building #trust between the two ecosystems can lead to impactful opportunities. With the UK now associated with #HorizonEurope, these collaboration opportunities are more relevant than ever.   What can we expect to see next? Here are some of the expected #results that are set to drive innovation, following Connect & Experience UK 2024:   🔑 Key UK #market_access for EU innovation players: Participants gained direct access to major players in the UK’s innovation ecosystem, including connections at top hubs like Level39, Plexal, and Accenture. These connections will empower the startups in their ecosystem to successfully enter and navigate the UK market, enhancing their growth strategies and innovation capabilities. 🌏 New cross-border #collaborations to boost EU-UK innovation: Participants are set to forge long-term collaborations that leverage the UK’s association with Horizon Europe to directly support startup development and growth, following connections formed with industry leaders and government representatives like Tony Kypreos, Andy Bates, Bertrand Guiziou, Nicki Bromwich, and Ben Morris. 💶 Increased access to #investment opportunities: By tapping into exclusive investor networks and gaining valuable insights from Kirsten Connell (Octopus Ventures) and Lyubov Guk (Blue Lake VC), participants are now better positioned to secure the funding needed to scale their startups and boost innovation both in the UK and across Europe. 🕸️ Stronger relationships that enable long-term #success: Drawing from the lessons shared by Russ Shaw CBE and Bindi Karia on the evolution of London’s tech landscape, participants will leverage the power of early relationship-building and grassroots networks, laying a solid foundation for future collaborations and ecosystem growth.   🌟 This is just the beginning of impactful partnerships driving EU and UK tech growth. Through our programmes, we’re connecting startups with the tools they need to attract investment and collaborate with global corporates.   Here are #3 recent standout success stories that highlight the real-world impact of our programmes:   1️⃣ Loader Charging Ahead in the US Market 🚗 After joining the GreenScale programme in 2023, EV Loader, a Greek startup, completed a proof of concept (PoC) in Albany, New York, with Aries Power Inc., placing electric vehicle charging stations in new residential and office buildings.   2️⃣ Siemens and Boson Energy Partner to Revolutionise Green Energy ⚡ Boson Energy has partnered with Siemens to accelerate the green energy transition through waste-to-hydrogen (to-X) technology. Boson Energy participated in EIT Hub Israel's Calling2scale programme in 2022.   3️⃣ RiDERgy Secures PoCs with TotalEnergies 🛠️ German startup RiDERgy has secured new proof of concepts (PoCs) with TotalEnergies to demonstrate the effectiveness of their solutions in real-world applications, potentially leading to collaborations and integration into larger fleet systems and public charging networks.
