Final Call!! Having visited Barcelona, San Francisco, Cambridge (UK) and Paris during the last 12 months, the next Microfluidics Consortium meeting is in Boston (USA) on June 27 & 28 (Carefully timed to fit with a meeting of our good friends at FluidicMEMs)! With delegates from 10 countries and all along the value chain from materials to applications such as HTS, Dx, Tx, NGS, Synthetic Biology and beyond, this will our largest US event of the year. On June 27 we are in the Skyline Room of the Boston Museum of Science with research and applications talks from thought leaders, hotseat pitches from early stage companies (including SiPhox Health and MobiDrop, Inc.) looking for partners, physical table-top demos from key vendors and all the face-to-face networking you can handle. There will also be a panel discussion about challenges and opportunities for #microfluidics with Gianluca Etienne (Novartis) Jonathan Cottet, PhD (Parallel Fluidics) Robert Pelletier (Fluigent) and Juan Carlos Ramos (HP). A short walk from this we will organize an evening mixer with FluidicMEMS . On June 28th we are arranging site visits to local microfluidics contingent companies and labs in the Boston Area including Northeastern University @BostonUniversity and Nano Dimension With research talks from Paul Blainey Lab and Northeastern University, Start-up pitches as well as tabletop demos including : Advanced Microfluidics SA , Eden Tech , FEMTOprint SA, Fluigent, Micronit, Emulseo, Nano Dimension, Wainamics, Citrogene, Incorporated, HiComp, UpNano GmbH and Leister this is an opportunity not to be missed! Follow this link for agenda and registration: https://lnkd.in/eVWn3YhN There are special deals for organisations sending more than 2 delegates or wanting a demo table. Not able to be in Boston that day? "no problem" - there is a virtual delegate registration option on the RingCentral Events App as well with Boston content (recorded and available to virtual delegates for 96 hours), virtual vendor booths, jobs board and virtual networking. If your organisation is a member of the Microfluidics Consortium you get free access as well as talk time/demo spaces and marcomms uplift. Next stops? Cambridge UK on Sept 10th carefully timed to fit with SLAS Microtech as well as the Cambridge Innovation Summit on Sept 11. Questions? Requests for bulk bookings, sponsorship etc? email me! Very excited to come back to MIT and give a seminar next Monday April 22 at 11 am (Rm NE47-189) on our latest work on cancer drug testing platforms using patient-derived microdissected tumor biopsies with intact TME (a.k.a. "cuboids") -- thanks to Roger Kamm for hosting!

“Current research models have limited ability to investigate the combined effects of biophysical forces (such as IF) and cytokines (TGF-β) in a 3D microenvironment. We used a 3D-matrix based microfluidic platform to demonstrate the potentiating effect of IF on exogenous TGF-β induced upregulation of the Smad-signaling activity and the expression of mesenchymal marker vimentin in A549 lung cancer spheroids.”
🌟 New Customer Case Study: Research in Cancer Spheroid Modeling 🌟 👩🔬 Rahman, Z. et al., at Delft University of Technology, have unveiled a groundbreaking cancer model using microfluidics. They showed the involvement of tumor microenvironment in cancer progression, underscoring its importance for future research. 🧬 Their innovative approach includes a 3D-matrix embedding lung cancer spheroids, mimicking tumor microenvironment conditions such as interstitial flow and TGF-β cytokines in a microfluidic chip. 🔬 With Fluigent’s pressure pump, MFCS series, they achieved precise and stable pressure, paving the way for reproducible results. Discover how this technology sheds light on the use of mechanotransduction and cytokines in cancer cell invasion 🔍 Learn more about the study: https://bit.ly/43HLEdc #Microfluidics #CancerResearch #Innovation #Research
