🌟 Meet Pulotea Lejong Benjamin, mother of six 🌟 For quite a while, Pulotea Lejong Benjamin from Mangala Payam felt overwhelmed by life's challenges, like financial struggles, taking care of their six children, and managing the big household. Everyday life for her and her family has become lighter after participating in the "Family Makes a Difference" sessions. The sessions are facilitated by #InternationalRescueCommittee as part of the GIZ 🇸🇸 ResPEct project, supporting family-oriented counselling that helps #PreventSGBV and encourages communication without using violence. Through that, Pulotea has learned the importance of mindful, #NonViolentCommunication and emotional management, creating a more supportive home environment for the whole family. “I’m no longer using harsh words, and my kids are eager to help at home,” Pulotea shares. With her explanations, the children understand that responsibilities are opportunities for growth. 💪🏿 📝 The “ResPEct: Stop SGBV – Respond, Prevent, Educate!” project aims to tackle the alarming prevalence of gender-based violence in the region. By focusing on response, prevention, and education, the initiative is committed to creating safer communities and empowering individuals. Together, we can work towards a future free from violence! 💖✨ #FemPowerment #EndSGBV #CommunitySupport #NonViolentCommuication #GermanDevelopmentCooperation

About us
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been working in the area that is today South Sudan since the 1970s, on a periodic basis. GIZ’s coordination office has been located in the capital, Juba, since 2010. GIZ works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development in the following three priority areas: Food and nutrition security and rural development Urban water supply and sanitation Rural development and good governance. In the field of food and nutrition security, GIZ and its partners are working to combat undernourishment and malnutrition among children and women and raising awareness for health issues. The German Government is supporting local water utilities in four towns and cities in ensuring public drinking water supplies and sanitation, while making these services affordable and accessible even for low-income groups. GIZ is involved in developing water companies and is training staff to operate the plants. To improve hygienic conditions in schools, sanitary facilities are being extended and schoolchildren made aware of the importance of hygiene. To develop rural regions in the long term, GIZ is advising and supporting selected rural districts, allowing them to deliver services in a more direct and needs-based manner. The capacities of the rural authorities are being developed, while the population (especially women) are being encouraged to get involved in planning and shaping their immediate environments. The German Federal Foreign Office is also supporting the implementation of the 2015 peace deal through GIZ. Join us in honouring the #InternationalDayOfPeace 2024! 🕊️🏛️ As we mark the 25th anniversary of the UN’s Declaration on a Culture of Peace, we are reminded that true peace begins in the mind. Amid decades of conflict in South Sudan, cultivating a culture of peace is a long-term endeavour requiring a shift in mindsets and paradigms. Today, we want to highlight GIZ South Sudan's multifaceted approach to fostering harmony and stability in South Sudan: 🏛️ We support good #LocalGovernance by boosting the leadership and technical skills of local administrative staff as well as amplifying women’s voices, as well as teaching the communities how to non-violently address issues like border disputes and cattle migration. 🚺 We are dedicated to combating gender-based violence and promoting gender equality. Our initiatives include workshops, family counselling, and school programs and support displaced persons and host communities through #empowerment, #education, and #CommunityEngagement. Let’s work together to cultivate a culture of peace and resilience in every community! 🌟💪 #InternationalDayOfPeace #YouthEmpowerment #WomenInLeadership #GenderEquality #Fempowerment #Peacebuilding #Sport4Development #EndSGBV #GermanDevelopmentCooperation

#GIZworks: Collaborative impact in #SouthSudan 🤝 Two thirds of the people living in South Sudan are malnourished. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH works together with World Food Programme and UNICEF to improve #FoodSecurity 🌽 and #nutrition 🍚. The GIZ and UNICEF/WFP projects cooperate closely with mutually complementary results: While GIZ provides trainings on climate-resilient agricultural methods, management of natural resources and nutrition, WFP and UNICEF provide schoolchildren with meals and schools with teaching materials on the subject of nutrition. They also focus on improving nutrition and hygiene for infants and pregnant women. Working at the interface between humanitarian aid, development and peacebuilding, the pooling of expertise is essential for long-term impact. "Together, we can work towards the shared goal of increasing resilience of the population and stability in the country," says Cluster Coordinator Johannes Rumohr. 📹 Learn more about the holistic approach in this video👇🏿 https://lght.ly/pj8e7lc #FoodSecurity #GermanDevelopmentCooperation
