Making public (education) policies effective, efficient and durable needs evidence. But what counts as credible and reliable evidence? GPE's Ian Macpherson explains how #GPEKIX drives research, knowledge production, exchange and capacity strengthening of government and non-government stakeholders to support the need and priorities of countries. Considered to be the second most important factor for learning after classroom teaching, school leadership is a key lever for improving education outcomes. A joint initiative by the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO) and UNICEF Innocenti, supported by #GPEKIX, promotes the adoption of best school leadership practices while working towards a better representation of women school leaders. Now, a new report from Madagascar, which has one the highest proportions of women in school leadership positions in sub-Saharan Africa, gives valuable insights to strengthen the role of female school leaders in the region: http://g.pe/klfX50R7OHx #FundEducation | International Development Research Centre (IDRC)

Teachers are at the frontlines of every education system. Teachers, more than anyone else, can bring the realities of the classroom to the attention of policy makers: They have a deep understanding of needs and challenges and can explain what needs to be done to improve teaching practices, improve teaching conditions and - ultimately - improve learning. GPE's Ramya Vivekanandan and Krystyna Sonnenberg show how GPE works to improve teaching and make sure that teachers are engaged actors in education planning, policy making and monitoring: http://g.pe/Ixfk50TEiOL #WorldTeachersDay

Exciting news: Lesotho unlocked US$2.5 million from the GPE Multiplier to strengthen education and improve learning quality for Basotho children. Thanks to more than US$3.5 million in co-financing from the Econet Telecom Lesotho / Higherlife Foundation, the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation and the Standard Lesotho Bank, more children will be equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the future. With a previous GPE Multiplier grant unlocked by US$2.5 million from the Roger Federer Foundation, the country has now leveraged more than US$11 million towards advancing national education priorities. This is a great example of how partnerships with the private sector, in close coordination with partners on the ground including Lesotho’s Ministry of Education and Training, UNICEF Lesotho and Network of Early Childhood Development of Lesotho, can advance quality education for all children. #FundEducation
