As nearly half the world’s people vote to elect their next leader or legislature this year, #BTeam co-founder Sir Richard Branson (founder, Virgin Group) warns that democracy itself is “on the ballot.” Citizens and business leaders alike have a central role to play in strengthening democratic institutions because: 1️⃣ Democracy provides a stable, predictable environment for businesses to operate and grow; 2️⃣ Democracy fosters accountability and collaboration, which are key to building trust; 3️⃣ Democracy promotes innovation and competition — two cornerstones of economic progress; and 4️⃣ Democracy empowers citizens and stakeholders to have a voice in decision-making processes. Put simply: #Freedom and #democracy are the strongest drivers of prosperity the world has ever seen. ➡ Read Sir Richard’s commentary in “The Catalyst” newsletter, to learn how your business can lead on civic engagement and increasing voter participation: https://lnkd.in/ePAVddNT

“To thrive in the long term, business depends on good governance, stability, fairness and the rule of law. Where these things are threatened or nonexistent, the operational and reputational risks are just too great.” –Sir Richard Branson (founder of the Virgin Group and co-founder of The #BTeam). 🗳 In a year when nearly half the world’s people are voting to elect their next leader or legislature, responsible business can play a positive role by enabling increased voter participation. ➡ Learn how by reading Sir Richard’s full note on #business and #democracy, in the latest edition of “The Catalyst” – The #BTeam's monthly newsletter: https://lnkd.in/ePAVddNT

💥 To foster intergenerational collaborations within organizations and companies, it is crucial to first understand the extraordinary advantages that youth leaders offer. In 2023, our friends at the We Are Family Foundation (WAFF) set out to explore obstacles and opportunities for heightened collaboration among generations. Now, The #BTeam is excited to share the findings: 🤝 96% believe intergenerational collaboration holds significant value and can generate positive change; 🙋♀️ 87% recognize the powerful potential of youth ideas and solutions in addressing global challenges; ❗ But only 19% agree that youth are currently given enough opportunities to lead and contribute to important social issues. Check out WAFF’s Global Study for more statistics, case studies, and global recommendations that can be strategically implemented by any organization: https://lnkd.in/dnJA_N2D 🤝 Many thanks to The Possibilists & WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) for their partnership on this Global Study! #WeAreFamily #GlobalStudy #CollaboratingAcrossGenerations #IntergenerationalCollaboration

Some want us to believe the transition is impossible. It’s actually happening faster than we think. The #BTeam is proud to join #Mission2025, a high-ambition coalition ready to work with governments to deliver 1.5C-aligned climate plans in 2025 and faster action ahead of #COP30. It’s time for our leaders to lead. #Mission2025 #LCAW2024 ➡ Read more and join us: https://lnkd.in/gqrz3iBX

“We are in the most important decade of climate action, and it’s our generation’s responsibility to solve and change the course of the present trend. We still have it in our hands, and even if we can see slight positive movement, we need to speed up and collaborate across society, businesses and governments.” – #BTeam chair Jesper Brodin (CEO, Ingka Group | IKEA) on the importance of collaborative #ClimateAction, in the first edition of Fortune's #CEOAgenda with Peter Vanham: https://lnkd.in/eprk528b #Leadership

“It is essential that world leaders not only raise ambitions but also deliver on those ambitions so we can accelerate the transition to net-zero.” – Ester Baiget (CEO, Novonesis & #BTeam vice-chair) Businesses want to see clear plans and timelines from #G7 governments that show how countries will deliver on the strong international agreement from #COP28 to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels this decade. Companies including IKEA, Novonesis, Natura &Co, Roche and Patagonia have stepped up with over 260 other responsible businesses representing over $1.6 trillion in global annual revenue, in We Mean Business Coalition's call for bold leadership on phasing out fossil fuels, at the #G7Summit and beyond. ➡ Find out more: https://lnkd.in/e3P-ZKez #FossilToClean

As governments gather in Nairobi this week for the fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (UN Biodiversity), we’re delighted to join the Nature Collective Impact Coalition (CIC) to urge large businesses to assess and disclose all nature-related risks, impacts and dependencies. This is a key first step for business to understand their relationship with nature, and to know how and where to take action to reduce harmful impacts and increase positive ones. If we are to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, we need to ensure that companies take the necessary steps to embed nature in business decisions. Find out more about the Nature CIC, coordinated by World Benchmarking Alliance: https://bit.ly/nature-CIC #NatureCIC #naturepositive #SBI4
