We are excited to share our #DaringCities 2024 Key Findings! 🚀 Under the theme "Powering collective action to respond to the climate emergency," the event has facilitated exchanges among policymakers, technical experts, and leaders from around the world boldly tackling the #ClimateEmergency. We invite you to advocate with us. 🏙️👇
📣 Key Findings from Daring Cities 2024 released! For cities and regions, waiting for #MultilevelAction is not an option. They must take the lead in bringing all stakeholders together and showing why policy alignment is crucial. As COP29 Azerbaijan approaches, the spotlight on finance and multilevel collaboration intensifies, with initiatives like the Coalition for High Ambition Multilevel Partnerships (CHAMP) for Climate Action and Town Hall COPs driving deeper engagement and impact. This year, representatives from cities, towns, regions, and their partners have gathered in-person and online at the #DaringCities 2024 to share knowledge, showcase innovative climate actions, and foster ambitious collaborations to tackle the #ClimateEmergency. The results? A comprehensive set of key findings that will guide our inputs in the lead-up to #COP29 and beyond. Highlights Include: 🤝 Cities and regions have the power - and the success stories - to demand bold multilevel partnerships and governance for more ambitious climate action ⚖️ Cities and regions must embrace a bottom-up approach to create truly inclusive urban spaces for all 💡 Cities and regions are implementing holistic and integrated solutions to tackle the climate emergency We invite governments, communities, stakeholders, and individuals to engage with these findings and work towards implementing them. 🔗 Read our key findings here: https://lnkd.in/e3RdQaey Daring Cities 2024 is co-convened by #ICLEI and the Federal City of Bonn -Bundesstadt Bonn, and supported by major contributions from the Foundation for International Dialogue of the Savings Bank in Bonn and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Water is life, and the new Global Commission on the Economics of Water report is a wake-up call to raise our ambition on the global water crisis. For the first time, the hydrological cycle is out of balance, affecting all sectors. Just like the climate crisis, we need a collective, whole-of-society response for water. The report identifies five key missions, including transforming food systems, restoring ecosystems, and ensuring no child dies from unsafe water by 2030. We need a new course for water at every scale. At this critical moment, the Commission charts a path toward global water security and sustainable development for all. Groundbreaking Report from the Global Commission on the Economics of Water with 5 missions to restore the broken Water Cycle. Urban Sustainable Water Management has a key role to play. With 2.5 billion additional urban dwellers by 2050, cities should and can drastically change behavior and change water consumption patterns by people and industries, drive innovation and coordinate across sectors and levels of government to restore the water table. WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities has brought this into action over the last years with #UrbanWaterResilience, the #ACWA fund and Cities4Forests Looking forward to advance the discussion on the role of cities contributing to the mission of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water at COP16 Colombia #WUF12 COP29 Azerbaijan to raise ambition and finance. The biodiversity crisis didn't happen in a silo; its causes are inherently linked to the world's climate and development challenges🌎🌱 Its solutions are, too. Policies to protect nature will only be successful if all people can access the food, water and other vital resources they need. Likewise, the world cannot halt climate change and protect people from its impacts without stopping deforestation and reviving critical ecosystems.
