Jumping outside of your comfort zone Very early morning picture from a couple of weeks ago that made me think about few important topics in ones proffesional carreer. .....a beatiful dawn from #CEPSA tower in my first day of my new role. I'm starting a new position within Cepsa, after 26 exciting years in Cepsa Chemicals, joining #Cepsa/#Apical HVO/SAF project, key pillar of Cepsa's #Positivemotion strategy, in charge now of building all the commercial&trading piece of the project and adding hands for whatever is needed for the project success. All my past carreer and experience, with so many changes, helps me feeling confident in this new venture when one just jumps into something unknown for you, where you feel insecure and worried about if you would be able to deliver and contribute to the success of the Team and the project. That feeling is not unkown for me, is unconfortable, brings you stress, unsecurity, and a lot of doubts, Its just jumping out of your comfort zone!....but always appreciated as is a very healthy exercise...and at the end, I definitely enjoy it. Helps you to keep humble, you need a lot of help from your new colleagues during your learning curve, requires trust and a lot of Team work for a common dream...make everything happen. For everyone of you having the opportunity to change...do not hesitate...just jump! A beautiful dawn, is the start of a bright future.

Celebrating 6 Years at Olamagri- A Journey of Growth and Achievement This month marks my 6th anniversary as the Head of Maintenance and Utilities at Ruyat Oil LTD, a proud subsidiary of Olamagri. Reflecting on this journey, I am filled with a deep sense of accomplishment and gratitude. Over these six years, I have had the privilege of leading two major plant upgrades, expanding our edible oil refinery from 50MT per day to 100MT per day, and later to 200MT per day. These projects were challenging yet rewarding, requiring extensive upgrades to our utilities to meet the new plant requirements. Despite space constraints, we managed seamless equipment erection without any safety incidents, ensuring smooth transitions and enhanced safety. Today, the plant can perform both physical and chemical refining, each with a capacity of 200MT per day. Additionally, we installed a 100MT per day fractionation plant, further enhancing our processing capabilities. These efforts have significantly scaled up production volumes, making our plant more profitable and competitive by lowering refining costs. This journey has honed my skills in project management, cost control, vendor and contractor management, and team building. My Plant Management skills have also grown tremendously, allowing me to handle complex projects with greater efficiency. One of my proudest contributions has been developing local capabilities in the fabrication and erection of plant and machinery. Also, working with diverse teams across various nationalities and cultures, and coordinating across continents and time zones, has enriched my professional experience immensely. Coordinating teams for plant expansion and utility upgrades simultaneously while managing intricate details has been a remarkable learning experience. I am especially grateful to Saurabh Kumar, CFA , Syed Arif Hassan Rizvi, Mohammed Aslam , Suresh Majeti , Vini Olickal, Damilola Adeniyi, Ronke (Ronnie) Alabi MBA, SHRM-SCP, ACPIM, Chimobi Nweke and Jaideep Biswas for their unwavering support and the valuable knowledge exchange opportunities. Happy workiversary! Today is exactly a year since the first batch of Takoradi employees joined the Dangote Cement Production family. I found that having an open mind allowed you to gain insights on the job from all facets of an organization, regardless of the hierarchy at play in the system. Not so long ago, I had to take a break as a writer and researcher to gain some other relevant experience. The stakes were high as I was not getting any younger. This was the dilemma: do you accept the role as a logistician in the manufacturing industry, or pursue postgraduate applications in the field of Conflict, Peace, and Security? It took a leap. I decided to embark on new waters despite the fear of being drowned by the waves of a context I had little to no experience in. And I must admit, I was shocked for some time as all working environments are not the same. Nonetheless, there is an important aspect for me through it all. It’s been a year since I began work as a weighbridge officer. I’ve learned and will like to share some aphorisms I squeezed out of my experience. Here are some of the few lessons learnt based on my personal journey: 1.      Don’t underestimate the capabilities of anyone. Not their strengths or weaknesses. You will find this helpful in confusing times. 2.      Observe more and talk less. You absorb more in that way. 3.       Trust your gut when in the dark. However, ensure no torch was handed to you in the first place. 4.      Prove yourself by completing the tasks assigned to you on time. It is much more expedient than any excuse you can possibly think of. 5.      Understand the organizational culture. It enriches your understanding of the company when combined with the insights of organizational policies.
