Next up, in The Earthshot Prize Nominee feature, we have Better Dairy! 🌎 Better Dairy was formed to create a world where everything tastes better, starting with cheese - without consumers having to make trade-offs on sustainability or animal welfare. It recognises the problem of farming being highly unsustainable and inefficient. Despite a growing number of consumers trying to make more sustainable choices, plant-based products are yet to catch up in terms of taste, nutrition, and functionality. Better Dairy leverages precision fermentation technology, where microorganisms like yeast are tweaked and used as mini-factories to make the molecularly identical milk proteins that lend dairy its characteristic taste, texture, and functionality. By removing animals entirely from the equation, their products require 90%+ less CO2, water, and land use. It's not quite magic, but it's close! All the best to Jevan Nagarajah and his team! ✨ Stephen Murphy

CCO @ Agreena | Sales & Advisory | Business Development | Strategic Partnerships | Marketing | ClimaTech | ESG Advisory | Executive Leadership | Carbon Markets | Supply Chain Solutions | Financial Services
I have to share this exciting and energising evening experience with you all! When I joined Agreena just two years ago we spent the vast majority of our time talking about and explaining the basics of regenerative agriculture. . . the world's path to decarbonizing our agrifood system and utilising the original direct air capture: soil, to heal our ecosystems while simultaneously feeding a growing population. The international dialogue is transforming, and Denmark is leading the way. This evening I had the huge pleasure of joining The Sustainability Summit NYC organised by Consulate General of Denmark New York’s evening reception organised in collaboration with other regen ag pioneers Arla Foods and Carlsberg Group with the sole purpose of discussing The Role of Global Corporations in Unleashing the Transformative Potential of Regenerative Agriculture! A special thanks to the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lars Løkke Rasmussen for his opening speech on regenerative agriculture's role in Denmark's GHG reductions plans towards 2050. It was also very inspiring and positive to hear our local and international climate leaders speaking about topics such as the need for global standards and robust MRV, farmers being the solution and not the problem to our global agrifood system challenges, and call to actions on governments to create more certainty and lastly focus on action and recognising that regenerative agriculture is a leaver for driving climate change. I can feel we are amidst a game-changing moment in awareness and willingness to act! In line with this year's Climate Week NYC theme: It's time. 🙏 Lise Christiansen Walbom, Hanne Sondergaard, Simon Boas Hoffmeyer, Chris Hogg, James Heimbach and David Laborde 👉 Dive deeper into how Denmark’s food sector is taking bold steps toward climate action and a more sustainable world https://lnkd.in/dDtZ6DZD #SustainabilitySummit2024 #ClimateWeek #RegenerativeAgriculture #GreenTransition #SustainableFarming #FoodSystems #UNGA79

𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐖𝐄𝐁𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐑: March 20 @ 11am CT >>> https://lnkd.in/eTqBzywc If we’re going to achieve the scalability of environmental markets for carbon impacts in our complex supply chains, it's critical that we first examine what does trust really look like, and what are the win-wins when trust is achieved? On the back of a successful #carbon program initiated by Nestlé Purina North America, we bring a farmer, co-op, and technology partner together to understand key lessons learned as we seek to hit +1m acre scales for agricultural impact markets and #rowcrops. Join us Wednesday, March 20 at 11am Central Time to hear from the whole value chain: https://lnkd.in/eTqBzywc • 𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐑: Jennifer James, Owner, Delta Soy and H & J LAND CO • 𝐂𝐎-𝐎𝐏: Austin Brown, Assistant Director Sustainability, Riceland Foods • 𝐀𝐆𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇: Jay McEntire, Chief Executive Officer, Arva Intelligence • 𝐂𝐏𝐆: Jack Scott, VP Sustainable Sourcing, Nestlé Purina North America • 𝐌𝐎𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐎𝐑: Kate Newbury-Hyde, Senior Manager Food & Agriculture, WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development The farmer voices are often lost, so we’re delighted to showcase how this study delivers replicable lessons learned for CPGs, Co-ops, and Farmers alike. A few months ago, I spent a fascinating day with some of our dairy farmers (knee deep in manure management!) and have been thinking and learning a lot about cows since then. Dairy is the second largest contributor to our carbon footprint at Mars Snacking. We must reduce that impact to reach our #NetZero goals, which is why we’re investing in a new sustainable dairy plan – Moo’ving Dairy Forward – backed by a $47 million commitment over three years. The plan is all about leveraging the power of partnerships and together with suppliers and farmers, focusing on new science and technology to make climate-smart changes. For example, we’re working with FrieslandCampina on a first-of-its-kind program where new, innovative practices can be refined and scaled in a focused and accelerated environment. And we’ve launched three pilot “net zero” dairy farms with the DMK Deutsches Milchkontor GmbH in Germany as part of a five-year project. Together, I know that we can forge a path that helps address climate change head on and contributes to reshaping our wider industry for a more sustainable future. Watch the video below to learn all about Moo’ving Dairy Forward and check Mars.com for more on our sustainable dairy efforts. #ProudlyMars #TomorrowStartsToday
