I am thrilled to share this exciting news - The Government Office of the Republic of Lithuania and The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) announced the winner of the design contest for the Baltic Pavilion at the international exhibition “Expo 2025 Osaka”. The winning concept features a unique interactive installation that creates a meditative space, highlighting the interaction between nature, people, and technology. The centerpiece of the design is a green glass wall symbolizing our planet, including the Baltic green forests. Using unique technology, condensation forms on the glass, turning the wall into an interactive platform where every visitor is invited to leave their message. This prompts philosophical reflections on the footprints we leave on the planet during our lives. Each message fades after a few minutes, creating a new platform for the next symbolic ‘footprints,’ thus symbolizing the 21st-century challenge of building a socially responsible and environmentally friendly society. This intuitive experience resonates emotionally with every visitor, regardless of gender, age, language, and religion. It invites us to unite for a better future. Visitors to the pavilion will be invited on a sensory journey through the Baltic region, providing an unforgettable experience for all senses: the exhibition will be enveloped in the scents of the Baltic forests and soil, complemented by specially composed musical accompaniment from Latvia and Lithuania. The pavilion entrance will be remarkable as well: it is made of smart glass that can change its optical properties. The Compasso d'Oro Award is opening up to international entries Categories for submissions are design for living, design for lighting, design for mobility, design for work, design for the individual, food design, service and social design and design for communication. Entries also need to fall into one of the three sub-themes – "Saving Lives", "Empowering Lives" or "Connecting Lives" – and have to refer to products or services that were put on the market between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2024. The Saving Lives category includes areas such as public health improvements and disaster risk reduction, Empowering Lives might take in tech-enhanced education or the maximising of human potential via artificial intelligence or robotics, while Connecting Lives could cover projects in the areas of communication or co-creation. Countdown to Expo 2025 Osaka: 10 months to go! 🌐 The German Pavilion is not just a structure; it's a vision of circular architecture, utilizing materials that are recyclable and reusable while prioritizing function over form. At its core, @expo2025germany embodies the harmony between the environment and humanity, merging the circular cosmos, technosphere, and biosphere seamlessly. Led by the Circulars, the circular exhibition features three immersive rooms, for which we contributed the media content as a partner of the German Pavilion Consortium: “Circular Living”: Design the future city playfully with the AI Dream Machine, interacting with visitors. “Circular Economy”: Step into a universe of circularity, experiencing a 360-degree narrative of sustainable practices. Lastly, “Circular Me” empowers visitors with the belief that they too can make a difference.
