🔊 RENEWPORT was in Turin for the Kick-off events of the Green Living Areas Thematic Community on 10th and 11th April 2024. 🔊 19 Thematic Projects from the Interreg EURO-MED Programme, working under the “Green Living Areas” mission, have started their journey to improve the sustainability of the territories and consequently, the quality of life in the EURO-MED region, supporting local and regional authorities and main stakeholders in this transition. RENEWPORT is one of these Thematic Projects, which will not be alone in facing this challenge and will be accompanied by one Mission task force composed by 2 governance projects, supporting them in different dimensions: 1. The Community4Living Areas project – C4LA, will build a strong community among the projects of the mission, facilitating the creation of synergies among their activities and results. 2. The Dialogue4LivingAreas project – D4LA, will amplify the transfer of policies by fostering dialogue among policymakers and public stakeholders The main objective of the event, “What’s new for the Green Living Areas?” was to exchange best practices related to tools, strategies, and policy instruments for promoting greener territories and engaging citizens in the transition. This was the first cross-fertilization and amplification of the Community resonance and the occasion of launching the Institutional Dialogue Process of the Green Living Areas Mission. The event was dedicated mainly to local and regional authorities, public policymakers, civil society, and, generally speaking, actors leading projects to increase climate resilience and sustainability in Mediterranean territories. In this framework RENEWPORT presented the activities, objectives and main results to the Community, thus taking the first step towards long-lasting cooperation. Read more 👇

#AivpWorldConference - Keynote: 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬! ▪ Edouard Philippe, Mayor of Ville du Havre , President of the AIVP ℹ Piers are the ultimate interface between land and water. They are the connection between port cities and the planet. Their accessibility has been a key indicator for the evolution of the port-city relationship. They changed from being accessible in the past, to gradually becoming off-limits. Fortunately, there is an ongoing tendency to reopen the piers, establishing a new kind of port-city relationship. How permeable are these relationships today? What flows are shaping these interactions? How are port cities presenting local answers to global trends? How do they fit together? And how are ports reopening their piers? 🗓 27 november 2024 - 11:30-12h30 📍 Lisbon (Portugal) ✅ Registration: https://swll.to/jGwtzjh 🔗 https://swll.to/O8irna4

The oceans are not very well understood and yet they are crucial to our future and next generations. I am very passionate about the Ocean Decade and very proud that Fugro is a partner of Ocean Decade. I really hope that more corporates will join this incredible important effort as we can only solve the climate change challenges through concerted efforts. What is Ocean Decade? Proclaimed in 2017 by the United Nations General Assembly, the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030) (‘the Ocean Decade’) seeks to stimulate ocean science and knowledge generation to reverse the decline of the state of the ocean system and catalyse new opportunities for sustainable development of this massive marine ecosystem. The vision of the Ocean Decade is ‘the science we need for the ocean we want’. The Ocean Decade Corporate Data Group—co-chaired by Fugro and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (IOC/UNESCO)—was officially launched in February 2023. The working group is focused on creating frameworks and mechanisms to make privately owned ocean science data publicly available for the benefit of humanity, #Fugro #oceandecade #unesco #climatechange
1 Ocean. 10 Challenges. 10 Years. On 10-12 April, the global ocean community will meet at the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference to showcase how the #OceanDecade can deliver the science we need for the ocean we want. Happening as part of Ocean Decade Week in Barcelona, the Conference is set to be the largest gathering of the global ocean community in 2024. It will feature a series of plenary and interactive parallel sessions, partner-led Satellite Events, as well as 100 oral presentations that each illustrate concrete ocean-based initiatives and solutions currently being implemented across the world. 🚢 Ports of Stockholm, in collaboration with the RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Torghatten, Zeabuz, DNV, and Vattenbussen, are pioneering the future of urban maritime transport with the "Policy Lab Urban Zjöfart" project. This innovative initiative focuses on the safety and feasibility of autonomous ferries in Stockholm. 📅 This project leverages a real-world case study in Riddarfjärden to gather crucial data on the transition from manned to autonomous ferries. It aims to improve the frequency and punctuality of ferry services, benefiting travelers, particularly cyclists and pedestrians. 🔍 The role of Ports of Stockholm is central to this project, collaborating on the testing and development of safety protocols. The findings will contribute to ongoing international policy discussions by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), positioning Stockholm as a leader in maritime innovation and sustainability. 🌍 This initiative not only aims to revolutionize urban mobility in Stockholm but also to enhance its regulatory and commercial standing in the global maritime industry. By developing safe and efficient autonomous ferry services, Stockholm Ports is setting a new standard for sustainable urban transport. 🔗 For more information you can take a look at SOM-INN PORT’s Observatory through the following link: https://lnkd.in/dbRGrnN8 SOM-INN PORT <> Port Tarragona

🌍 Another exciting COMANAGE Consortium meeting took place in the beautiful city of Rome! We took the time to reflect on the significant work accomplished over the past two years and evaluated the tools developed under the COMANAGE Open Platform. 🛠️ We also discussed the next steps moving forward. 🔍 🗣️ During these two days, we had the opportunity to connect with Regional Energy Communities in the Lazio Region—one of our key pilot cases. We showcased the innovative tools we've developed to help them navigate financial, administrative, legal, and social barriers. Our insightful conversations with representatives from the Regional Energy Communities provided us with a clearer understanding of the challenges they face. 🤝 Among the representatives we counted with: ◾ Valeria Caforio, representative of the Association "SCENARIO B" manager of the Renewable Energy Community "Le Vele" which won the CER of the year 2023 IFEC award; ◾ Alessandro Mengoli, representative of the REC "A otto minuti dal Sole"; ◾ Caterina Clarke, Rome and Lazio RECS Coordination Network; ◾ Giorgio Biondi, representative of 3 groups of citizens in REC. As we enter the final year of our project, our focus will be on testing the platforms and tools we’ve created, reaching out to as many #EnergyCommunities as possible, and assisting various regions.
