This is a game changer for Zambia. Having engaged with so many local businesses lately in the Energy sector, especially for #cleancooking and hearing how they wished this could be finalised for Zambia to improve the sector, and also had the pleasure of having a chat with people directly involved in this great work, Elaine Bwalya Kafwimbi, to understand abit more on what it really means to have the carbon market for Zambia. it's a delight to see such progress. As the country continues to face #cleanenergy access and #Climatechange challenges, its time for such efforts.👏 #climateaction #cleanenergy #article6

Excited to see #CHAMP endorsers and champions come together at #Bonn to highlight the critical role local governments play in ramping up climate ambition! CHAMP Special Envoy Gregor Robertson shared the stage with COP28 and COP29 High Level Champions H.E. Ms. Razan Al Mubarak and Ms. Nigar Arpadarai, whose official work programme for 2024 includes a focus on engaging with subnational actors through CHAMP. The champions spoke at a special UNFCCC Dialogue on Multilateral Partnerships for Enhanced NDCs, where NDC guidance for endorsers was shared. CHAMP calls on national governments to: ✍ Prepare NDCs 3.0 with subnational governments to make them more ambitious. 💹 Frame NDCs 3.0 as investment plans to unlock private sector resources. 🏙 Urge development banks to prioritize cities and create urban climate programs, leveraging countries' shareholder positions to enhance subnational financial access. 💰 Support the creation and operationalization of a Green Cities Guarantee Fund.

Sustainability and #ClimateAction need to be at the forefront of every industry globally. Worldwide our most vulnerable communities suffer the most from the actions (or inaction) of more industrialized nations. We each can do our part, big or small, to lead our industry in green technology and sustainable practices. Embracing virtual events isn't just about adapting to new technologies—it's about positively impacting our planet. Here’s how virtual events promote sustainability, a green economy, and eco-friendly business practices: ♻️ Reduced Carbon Footprint: No travel means fewer emissions from planes, trains, and automobiles. Attendees can participate from anywhere in the world without the environmental cost of transportation. 🌱 Less Waste: Traditional events often generate substantial waste from promotional materials, food, and single-use items. Virtual events eliminate much of this waste, fostering a cleaner environment. 💡 Energy Efficiency: Hosting events online reduces the need for large venues, which consume significant energy for lighting, heating, and cooling. Virtual events utilize the more energy-efficient infrastructure of the internet. 🌳 Preservation of Resources: By moving to digital formats, we save paper, water, and other resources that would otherwise be consumed in printing programs, flyers, and other materials. 🏡 Promotes Remote Work: Encouraging virtual participation supports the broader remote work culture, which has been shown to reduce commuting and office energy use, contributing to lower greenhouse gas emissions. 🌎 Global Accessibility: Virtual events break down geographical barriers, allowing wider participation and inclusivity without the environmental costs of long-distance travel. 💧 Support for Green Technologies: By adopting and supporting virtual platforms, businesses encourage developing and enhancing green technologies, driving innovation in sustainability. How does your business promote sustainability? #Sustainability #EcoFriendly #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #Green #GoGreen #EarthDayEveryDay #Sustainable #EthicalBusiness #SocialGood

🌍 A Landmark in Climate Collaboration: Zambia & Sweden Join Forces under Article 6 with the Support of SPAR6C 🤝 Today, we witnessed a pivotal moment in the global fight against climate change. Zambia, under the visionary leadership of the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment (MGEE) 🌍, and Sweden 🇸🇪 have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. ✍️ This historic agreement is more than just a diplomatic success; it’s a bold step towards creating sustainable energy solutions that will benefit not only Zambia but the entire region. Zambia’s commitment to addressing its energy challenges through innovative and sustainable means is truly commendable. The partnership with the Swedish Energy Agency symbolizes a powerful alignment of national priorities with international climate goals. This collaboration, supported by the SPAR6C program, showcases Zambia’s proactive role in driving regional leadership in climate action. 🚀 The MOU signing is a result of efforts by the Supporting Preparedness for Article 6 Cooperation (SPAR6C) Program, led by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) with GFA Consulting Group GmbH and UNEP Copenhagen Climate Centre as delivery leads in Zambia. SPAR6C has played a crucial role in facilitating this partnership, providing the knowledge, tools, and strategic support needed to navigate the complexities of Article 6. With this MoU, Zambia is not just closing the energy gap but also setting a precedent for other countries in the region to follow. As we move forward with this partnership, we remain committed to leveraging international cooperation to drive transformative change. Together, Zambia and Sweden are paving the way for a sustainable future, one that prioritizes both people and the planet. 🌍 #ZambiaSwedenA6Alliance #SPAR6C #GGGI #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Article6 #SwedishEnergyAgency (#SEA), GGGI Africa, Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH(#KPC), #InternationalClimateInitiative (#IKI), GGGI Latin America & the Caribbean #carbonLimit

"The initial pledges of $700 million [in the COP28 loss and damage fund], fall short of the $215-387 billion that developing countries will need annually to meet their adaptation needs." This lack of funding isn't anything new, but that doesn't mean the conclusion of underfunding the Global South must be inevitable. #climatechange #justtransition #climatefinance
📢 Project Syndicate: The Global South has immense potential to achieve a just transition, build climate resilience, and, in the process, become an example for others to emulate.
