During his inspection, Dr. Al-Fartousi observed the ongoing excavation activities in the Khor Al-Zubair channel and the preparation for floating the tunnel sections, indicating a significant advancement in the project's execution. "We are on track with the immersed tunnel project, and I am pleased with the rapid progress being made. The floating of the tunnel sections is set to commence shortly," said Dr. Al-Fartousi. The Grand Port of Faw is undergoing several transformative projects, with the immersed tunnel being a key component. The tunnel is expected to significantly improve the operational logistics and connectivity of the port, which is strategically important for Iraq's trade and economic growth. Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) is implementing a recovery plan to improve the efficiency of port infrastructure and operational efficiencies at central region ports. The plan aims to ensure competitiveness by improving efficiency through robust port operations oversight, critical infrastructure delivery, and investment in a reliable marine fleet. The plan includes strategic initiatives for East London, such as deepening and strengthening the N-berth, replacing two graving dock jib cranes for ship repair facilities, and acquiring two tugboats. The N-Berth construction project is set to be completed in October. The plan also includes expanding the automotive terminal berth capacity for modern automotive carriers and taking delivery of two of six additional hydraulic tension mooring units to curb shipping delays caused by inclement weather conditions. The Port of Port Elizabeth will benefit from the completed upgrade of the 1200-tonne slipway and refurbishment of the Dom Pedro Quay, starting in February 2024. The port will also benefit from eight of the 52 hydraulic tension units procured for ports. TNPA's recovery plan aligns with Transnet group's overall plan, which aims to improve operations and financial sustainability while driving efficiency across the business over 18 months to the end of the 2024/25 financial year.

The answer was simple: count the number of cranes. It might seem funny, but it's not. The number of cranes gives a good indication of the construction activities in a city. RLB Australia maintains a Crane Index, which provides this indication. According to the RLB Crane Index(2024 Q1), there are 879 cranes in Australia. The Great Eastern Highway Bypass Interchanges (GEHBI) project Pre-construction activities for the Great Eastern Highway Bypass Interchanges (GEHBI) project have been completed. These works encompassed essential services relocations and protective measures throughout the construction site, involving entities such as Western Power, ATCO Gas, the water corporation, and the installation of Local Government drainage mains. The project team has accomplished the realignment and reconstruction of Arum Lily Place, along with the enhancement of Adelaide Street. Over the past few months, earthworks have been executed to shape embankments and solidify ground conditions for the GEH Bypass and Abernethy Road interchange. Federal government has provided Wagga Wagga with a $7.7 million boost to increase the funding for #roadsafety under #RoadstoRecovery program. This takes the total funding to $18 million over the next five years. A much needed boost to improve road surface, build new roads, bridges and much more. Breaking news | Northern Trans-Pennine project gains development consent. The government recently granted development consent for the £1.3bn A66 Northern Trans-Pennine dualling. Balfour Beatty plc, Kier Group and Keltbray are waiting to begin the project, which will be delivered under an enterprise-wide collaborative working agreement. Organisations will work on upgrading the remaining 18 miles of single-carriage way sections and key junctions on the route between M6 Junction 40 (Penrith) and the A1 at Scotch Corner. The A66 Northern Trans-Pennine project is one of the most critical road upgrades beginning in the North of England, designated by the Government as a 'Project Speed Pathfinder' Project. Under the plan, teams have a goal of halving construction time for the project, aiming to bring forward the opening by five years to 2029. National Highways Project Director, Stewart Jones, commented; "We are delighted to have received approval and to be able to give the people of Cumbria, County Durham and North Yorkshire some positive news. “A lot of hard work has gone into getting us to this position.
