Today, we hosted the Maloufies. Roughly inspired by the Dundies from “The Office,” (ours featured a lot less singing and dancing) this was a chance for employees to vote on categories like the Old Faithful Award, the Best Beard Award, and the Most Likely to Use a Spreadsheet to Solve a Problem Award. Congratulations to all our winners! Some awards we’ve won in our 20-year history include #5 on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list, Walmart Supplier of the Year, and the Green Business Award for Corporate Excellence–and wins as EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year and MountainWest Capital Network's Entrepreneurs of the Year.

During #BlackBusinessMonth, the Council recognizes that success is not solely built upon triumphs, but also upon the lessons learned from setbacks and failures. Many Black-owned businesses have faced challenges and obstacles to succeed but like Michael Jordan, they understand that failures are stepping stones to success. This month, we celebrate these resilient individuals and their ability to turn setbacks into opportunities, contributing to their growth and strength as a business. #FunFactFriday #NYNJMSDC #BlackInBusiness

In the intricate dance of business, it's not always about standing head and shoulders above the rest, but about the strength of one's resolve and the depth of one's vision. Two figures, undeniably tall, join forces with another whose stature may be lesser but whose tenacity is undiminished. Each has navigated their path with determination, often pausing to chuckle at their own misadventures and stumbles. As we move into the new fiscal year, they unite with a humble recognition of past mistakes, but with an unwavering determination to forge a brighter path forward. 'In the theatre of commerce, sometimes it's not about standing the tallest, but standing together.' Their collective journey, infused with a mix of self-deprecation and ambition, offers a fresh narrative in the business realm. While the road ahead might be filled with jests about mismatched coffee cup sizes or who gets the tallest chair in board meetings, their commitment to innovation and progress is serious. #UnifiedInDiversity #HumbleBeginnings #DeterminedForChange 📈🤣🤝"

Author (mainly fiction & satire); Enterprise Champion; "The Happipreneur" Book & Show. Speaker; Chair - Yorkshire in Business; Co-Founder - Micro Business Alliance; Director - ORB & #PayIn30Days -30 yrs campaign.
TEN CONTROVERSIAL MOMENTS IN OUR SHOW Brigit Douglas's post is lovely, and my co-presenter entrepreneur friends are the bee's knees (what do they look like?). Jenn Crowther and Ian Farrar turn a grey-bearded, long-haired ancient philosopher's riches to rags story into a spectacular myth-busting, values-based journey of know-how and know-who discovery. The "Be More Happipreneur" Show is for all enterprising people, whether employed or self-employed, and all those who support enterprising people. It's a joyous, celebratory, informative, fun and interactive show with controversial moments. Here are ten controversial moments. Find out WHY: 1. We prefer to surround ourselves with family and a few great friends rather than many successful people. 2. Making ends meet, avoiding debt, and ensuring business survival are more important than funding or striving to achieve big dreams and business growth. 3. The "millionaire mindset" usually leads to debt and depression. 4. Being a happipreneur (happy at work 80%+ of the time) is fulfilling, useful, energising and fabulous for your communities. 5. Only 10% of #startups in Silicon Valley survive the first 3 years of trading when an 80%+ survival rate is easily achievable. 6. No successful entrepreneur has done it on their own. 7. Most successful entrepreneurs do not adopt a #scaleup programme. 8. There is one skill that most successful entrepreneurs never delegate. 9. Happipreneurship is a philosophy which has been proven over thousands of years. 10. Kanya King CBE is my inspiration, and Tim Campbell wrote the introduction to "The Happipreneur", but Charles Dickens is probably the greatest happipreneur of all time (the GHOAT). Book It (Oct. 2024 to Oct 2025) or Be Sad 😎
Calling all you lovely self-employed, enterprising people. This man is a lighthouse, shining brightly for individuals like you. Tony Robinson OBE holds the floor at venues ranging from a local pub to the university lectern. There is so much to learn from him while his intelligence and charisma crackle! Plus, there is *never* a dull moment when he's on the mic. Tony has fought for the underserved in business for decades, providing a practical philosophy in Happipreneurship and embodying true kindness. He boldly told the nation that #MicroBizMatters... And now, it's his final ever speaking tour. It was lots of fun and a real honour to create Tony's last speaking engagement menu. Don't miss out — take a look and book ASAP if you want to experience his rallying cry in a place near you. I take care of all your accounting, tax, VAT, bookkeeping and payroll needs so you can focus on the things that matter most in your business and in your life.
I’m about to share some normally private business information…. Every weekend as part of BlackBelt Accountants I share with members amongst other things my 3 biggest wins of the past week. This is a great way to focus and take a step back from the whirlwind of business life and think about some of the great things that have been achieved. Sometimes I’ve been thinking that not much has been achieved, but when I look back I’m surprised at what’s actually been done, and it’s a great way to end the week with some positive thoughts. My 3 biggest wins of this past week were….. 🙌 2 great new client sign ups + positive meeting with an existing client to discuss completing monthly management accounts for them in future. 🙌 Finished our new pricing packages for inclusion on our website and Ignition. Thank you Heather Townsend, Mario De-Crescenzo and fellow members of The Accountants' Growth Club for valuable input. 🙌 Some great networking - Appointed vice-chair of Lanarkshire Business Group + Attended partner event at #TheHive 🐝, a Business North Lanarkshire supported business centre for women in our local North Lanarkshire Council area. Looking back, I’m realising I’ve actually had a cracking week last week! 😊 What were your biggest wins of the past week? I’d love to hear them and create some positive vibes 😎 #business #wins #positivity

Meet the CEO with a staggering 2.1 billion exit Being invited to the Black Business Magazine event with Dean Forbes was a big deal. Dean, who led a company to sell for 1 BILLION, shared lots of wisdom about being a CEO. Despite facing tough odds, he managed to exit businesses totalling 2.1 billion. The event was full of valuable wisdom. Attendees had the opportunity to learn even more from Dean during interactive Q&A sessions. Dean's story shows that no matter where you come from, with resilience, hard work, and the right connections, you can achieve great things. Here are my key insights from the event: 1️⃣ Regularly reflect on your work methods to enhance performance. 2️⃣ Stay KPI-driven and set ambitious goals to maintain focus. 3️⃣ Empower outstanding individuals by granting them autonomy for better results. 4️⃣ Have confidence in your capabilities and demonstrate them through action. 5️⃣ Don't hesitate to challenge the status quo. I want to give a big thanks to Dr Tru Powell and the team for inviting me and Anne-Sophie Martin-Kukah, MCIM If you're interested in supporting Black Business Magazine business, consider subscribing to the Black Business Magazine at https://lnkd.in/dqffxwJQ and Following them on social media Black Business Magazine Shoutout to Lloyds Bank Business & Commercial for all the support #blackbusinessmagazine #blackbusiness #blackenterprise #blackentrepreneur #entrepreneurship #blackbusinessowners

I love good lawyers. Recruitment expert for legal teams, mentor to lawyers. Founder of The Lawt, certified women-owned by WBENC. Champion for gender and racial equality in the legal industry. Wanna-be cowgirl.
Adam Grant’s new book “Hidden Potential” references a study showing that lawyers who were guided by multiple mentors are more likely to make partner. Takeaway? Associates, get to know partners across practice groups - as people, as leaders, as colleagues. Your rise to partnership will become a natural byproduct of your relationships at the firm, your exposure to clients, and from the dynamic experiences garnered from networking. Show up. Stay committed. The best firms will recognize your authentic contributions; they place less weight on personal production and more on your investments in the firm, evidence that you have and are willing to share in the risks as much as the wins. And practically speaking, it if comes down to a vote - you need to campaign long before your name is on the ballot. #thelawt #legalrecruiting #thepathtopartnership

EVP, Chief Marketing & Equity Officer. Board Member. Building Brands, Investing in Communities, Enhancing Lives
Repeat after me: DEI is not dead. DEI is not dead. DEI is not dead. Its value only needs to be defended when its real purpose is distorted. False narratives will never change the facts of our nation’s history — but they can debilitate our present and derail our future. The continued impact and inequities born from centuries of lawful, legalized, policy-supported discrimination, bias, and exclusion are real. So is the work required to address those inequities and create an equitable society that (at last) reflects the best of us. Imagine whom we could be if we collectively focused on creating a different future, rather than ignoring or revising a checkered past? Despite the steady drumbeat of disinformation, DEI is not rooted in blame, division, discrimination or the exclusion of anyone. It is not about snatching opportunities from one to compensate another. It’s about creating opportunities designed to lift all of us — not only some of us. DEI done right ensures everyone has the tools and support they need to meaningfully compete and meet their potential. Achieving this standard requires an unfiltered and truthful acknowledgment of where we’ve been and how we got here so we can build a fair and well-considered path to where we want to go. If you need inspiration for what to do and how to do it with purpose, innovation and business impact, take a listen below…hear how we’re doing things differently…and let’s get back to the work of doing the work. #cmo #doingdeidifferently #dei #diversity #equity #inclusion #marketing #communications #leadership
⚠️ Watch out for all the gems being dropped. You may want to save this one as our CEO & Founder, Bill Koenigsberg, speaks about his induction into the Advancing Diversity Hall of Honors and his views on DEI, marketing/media, and what Horizon is doing next. Congrats, Bill! You continue to not only lead the way, but carve the path, for an entire industry to follow. Check out the full interview here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gpiXndEj. #BusinessIsPersonal
