Two of the most important ways we can invest in children is through access to quality education and housing. I give it my best to practice what I preach, and here, by supporting the Lindbergh Schools Foundation who does a remarkable job investing in Lindbergh Schools students. If you've been thinking about a way a give, this is a worthy cause for our children. #education #investinginkids

This story has really captured the hearts & minds of people near & far. A beautifully simple story in so many respects, but also an embodiment of what community regeneration means: connection, revival, action & hope. https://lnkd.in/exnn6ubk

🐶 Dog park … or bocce ball? This question crossed my mind on my morning walk. You see, our neighborhood has a rarely-used field with a NEVER-used bocce ball court. Seriously, I have never seen anyone playing. Not once. And yet, said bocce ball court was just renovated. (Maybe the signs of neglect should've been a clue!) No one seems to care a hoot about the bocce ball, but do you know what comes up in almost every conversation with my neighbors? "Man, I wish we had a dog park." 🐾 I get it. That field is gorgeous. Maybe that's not the best spot for a dog park, but we're not lacking for space here. So here's my question: Why invest in something unused before delivering on the ONE thing people are most requesting? Coming back to the point here, do you know that ONE thing in your community? And, if not, here's a gentle nudge to ask…and listen! (Your members may already be chatting about it.) 💫 PS. One thing I'm asked about is offering a group program for people who want to dive into community, but aren't ready for 1:1 support. I've listened, and Bri Leever and I are partnering to make it happen. We have a 4-week roadmap and Community Accelerator starting next week. No one belongs more than you. ☀️(Stole that line from Bri!)

If you get chance please listen to the heart felt plea from Leicester's Adventure Playgrounds on Radio Leicester's Ady Dayman breakfast show this morning. It is 1 hour and 41 minutes in to Ady's show. It is also covered by BBC East Midlands below. The reality of the situation is they have been set up to fail. They have been given 5 months to come up with a sustainable business plan with no security of tenure and no support as of yet despite what Leicester City Council might say. Equally they are not cutting finances to all non statutory services. The subsidy they provide to operate their leisure services is huge. Taking New Parks Leisure Centre for example it is losing money year on year. They are also missing the impact strategically that the Adventure Playgrounds have on their statutory services like Public Health and the long term cost of young people not being active. No wonder childhood obesity rates are what they are in Leicester. This decision to withdraw financial support for such a valuable service really needs rethinking https://lnkd.in/eZQtHFPW

Another fantastic project benefiting from funding raised through the Scottish Children's Lottery! This initiative aims to empower economically vulnerable youth in Scotland over an intensive 18-week period, cultivating confidence, essential skills, and self-belief for their journey toward success. The core of Growing2gether lies in a unique mentoring dynamic, where participants take on the role of mentors for nursery children requiring additional support. In today's challenging socio-economic landscape, initiatives like this are indispensable for nurturing the well-being and development of both high school youth and nursery children. For high school participants, many of whom could be at a heightened risk of being adversely affected by poverty, the program provides a crucial lifeline. It offers a transformative space where they not only acquire practical life skills but also develop an increased sense of self-belief and community connection through their mentoring roles. In an era marked by various societal pressures and economic disparities, such initiatives become vital in equipping these young minds with the resilience and skills necessary to navigate challenges, fostering a sense of purpose and direction for their futures. Simultaneously, for nursery children requiring additional support, the program serves as a beacon of positive influence. The mentorship provided by high school participants goes beyond academic assistance, offering emotional support and role modelling that can be pivotal in their early developmental years. The engagement with older mentors not only aids in academic progress but also contributes to building a nurturing environment, instilling a sense of security and self-assurance in these young children. As they interact with mentors who have faced and overcome challenges themselves, nursery children are exposed to positive role models, expanding their horizons and encouraging aspirations that extend beyond immediate circumstances. In essence, Growing2gether serves as a bridge, addressing the unique needs of both high school youth and nursery children, fostering a symbiotic relationship that propels holistic growth and development for all involved.
🌟Exciting News for 2024! Kicking off the year with a bang! We're ready to spread positive vibes and make a real impact on young people's lives in the Highlands, Moray, Aberdeen, and Dundee through our Growing2gether Nursery Mentoring and Growing2gether Community programmes. 🎉 Exciting News! 🏡✨ We had an incredible and successful community garage event in Sherman Oaks that brought together neighbors, friends, and families for a day of fun, connection, and giving back! 🌟🤝 From the moment the doors opened, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and a sense of togetherness. Our community members came out in full force, bringing their treasures to sell, shop, and support local causes. 🛍️💚 But it was more than just a garage sale. It was an opportunity for us to connect on a deeper level, to share stories, and to strengthen the bonds that make our community special. The event was filled with laughter, warm conversations, and the joy of discovering hidden treasures. 🗝️✨ I am humbled and grateful to have the opportunity as a real estate agent to not only help people find their dream homes but also to actively contribute to the well-being and growth of our community. Impacting Lives Through Empowering Individuals | Volunteer leader, Certified Enneagram Coach, Licensed Solemniser | ChFC®, AEPP®, IBFA
Community is more than a place. It's about the lives we touch and the impact we make. Chairing the Punggol West Community Centre Management Committee... I have seen the power of community engagement. It creates a space where people feel supported, connected, and empowered. The impact? We nurture a sense of belonging and mutual support. From youth programs to initiatives for the elderly, our efforts are designed to make sure no one feels left out or behind. Why this matters... In a world that's increasingly digital. The human connection matters more than ever. Our work in the community is a reminder of the tangible difference we can make in each other's lives. Here's what I've learned... Every contribution, no matter how small, has the potential to spark change. Whether it's volunteering a few hours, participating in a clean-up, or simply lending an ear to someone in need, it all adds up. And the best part? The joy of seeing our community... Come together. Overcome challenges. Celebrate achievements. Witnessing this strength in action is truly rewarding. So, here's my invitation to you: Get involved. Make an impact. Your community needs you. And trust me, the fulfillment you'll find in service is unparalleled. Together, let's make a difference. Not just for today, but for generations to come. #WeMakeImpact

From little things…what started as an idea, a dream, is now a reality. Anyone who lives in country towns knows if you want something done, you get in, volunteer, get a team on board and work hard to make it happen. The old tennis courts in Binnaway had seen better days, not used much, weeds growing through the cracks you know the deal…I asked around, got a couple of people keen, slowly we built to having regular social tennis. There were holes in the old nets, the balls would hit the cracks in the surface but it brought people together and gave them much needed social connection and exercise in the middle of the drought. Slowly, we built a committee, applied for grants, improved the lighting, painted the amenities and cleaned, mowed, got new nets and whipper snipped. We held BBQs, fundraised or funded ourselves to keep it going and now have regular free kids coaching clinics in the school holidays. We dreamt of resurfacing: made a plan, got quotes, lobbied, held meetings, consulted, added a multipurpose court, persisted through the many challenges and finally…it happened! Lessons: 1. Do it yourself: you can sit around, whinge and wait or make a plan and make it happen 2. Volunteers are key to rural community resilience: the more we and particularly government at all levels can support volunteer community groups and their efforts the better. 3. It takes a team: everything is better when you can share it. Others will bring fresh ideas, perspectives and skills and of course it is crucial for that joint sense of ownership and achievement. Thanks to The Coonabarabran Times for their cover and volunteers everywhere for what you do 😊 🎾☀️
