I'm also a photographer, a storyteller, an advocate for community, and an active member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. More #GenZ are attending #socialdinnerparties to combat #loneliness. Some young adults are finding #postcollege life challenging, especially in a remote work setup. So, they’re joining social dining events organized by groups like The Girls NYC, Skip the Small Talk, Bestie Brunch, the Aperitivo Society, and the Dinner Party Project. These gatherings aim to fight loneliness among Gen Z by connecting people over #themedmeals. While some attendees have formed meaningful #friendships, some can still find it difficult to establish a deep #connection. Despite mixed results, participants remain optimistic, viewing these events as opportunities for potential friendships and connection in an increasingly isolated world.

Holiday event planning is upon us! And for some people that are sober, or sober-curious, the most “wonderful time of the year” can be really hard at holiday parties. 🕯 Here’s a few tips to help make your parties more sober-inclusive! 🎁 ⇢ Include fun mocktails! An Orange Cranberry Mimosa Mocktail is a festive drink that cuts the booze and tap water from the menu. 🍹 ⇢ Be upfront about the event elements. If you’re popping the champagne at midnight or doing a wine tasting, sober attendees will know what to expect. But be careful not to assume that sober folks doesn’t want to be invited to the party, either! "Trust that they know their own comfort zone; their tolerance for shenanigans might be higher than you think." 🪩🕺 ⇢ Allow for a +1. Sober attendees could feel less alone by bringing a guest who is supportive of their sobriety. 👭 ⇢ Consider alternative events, like coffee tasting, candle-making, or a private concert 🎶 ⇢ Bonus tip: Including a sober bar could give people a place to order a NA drink without being surrounded by bottles of alcohol. 🤍 Accessibility goes beyond disability inclusion and I'm thankful for Earl L. Recognised by the United Nations and celebrated annually, this day serves as a global reminder about the universal pursuit of happiness and its vital significance in people’s lives. It’s really important that we’re building those links with the community and making sure they can get out there and enjoy life as they would have in their more able years.’ Myley Tour Leader Nick adds, ‘Engaging with these incredible people is a great joy to get to know them, and the lovely thing is that we come regularly to the same homes and we get to know people and recognise faces, so we have a lot of fun. Time is our most valuable resource. Sure... but do we believe that? The most common question people about where I currently live... "Isn't it expensive to live in Hawaii?" They are usually asking about financial costs. Yes, housing and food are more expensive... but I gladly pay that for more of what matters. If TIME is our most valuable resource, living in Hawaii isn't expensive. It's a bargain. - 10+ minutes is considered a long car ride - Outdoor activities (from ocean to mountain) are available year-round - The time difference makes for peaceful, distraction-free evenings - People don't seem to sweat the small stuff... like shoes or 'fashion' - The culture is more low-key... relaxed, family-friendly - Walkability abounds Overall, less time is spent "in transition". These benefits (and more) compound. People seem less strung out. Less rushed. It's more common to linger and chat. You bump into more people around town. The vibe is all-around more chill. For birthday parties, parents order pizzas at the beach. For school assemblies, parents bring their lawn chairs to an open field. For hosting, you eat outside and hose things off when kids make a mess. The result is more moments that matter. Less busy and more being present. Time is valuable. Let's act like it.
