Yesterday was all about our Young Leaders Group! We started the day with a Coastal Morning Exchange with CHARLESTON MOVES and Katie Zimmerman. With the Charleston metro ranking among the most dangerous for pedestrians, Katie highlighted the importance of providing safe and convenient ped/bike access throughout our community. Check out their website for more information on area initiatives and how you can support efforts for safe, connected streets. Thanks to our host and breakfast sponsor BL Harbert International LLC We finished up the day in Greenville with the Upstate Dinner with a Leader. Yesterday was a great turnout at ULI South Carolina's State of the Upstate, where we heard from the City of Travelers Rest panel of Shannon Herman, Jay Martin, and Grant Bumgarner as they wove the story of the city, the growth spurred primarily from the Swamp Rabbit Trail and how they love being a destination but hope that TR is called "home" to more." The thoughtful process of development, adding play space and being creative in the process of best land use, being community focused and conducive for everyone is aligned with their core values: Smart Growth, Connectivity, Art & Culture and keeping a Small Town Character. Thank you Presenting Sponsor Barge Design Solutions and Bowman Still, Supporting Sponsor Caldwell Constructors and Kyle Snipes (and our moderator!!) and to all who attended. Put TR on your calendar for a day outing or a weekend stay-you might not want to leave!

South Carolina has nearly 3,000 miles of tidal shoreline and our communities are continually working on coastal resilience for the more than 1 million residents that call our coast home. Check out one of ULI's many resources on resilience, Surge: Coastal Resilience & Real Estate - a recently released report highlighting best practices, resources and case studies of resilient real estate and coastal adaptation. See the link below to explore the report.
Our new report, "Surge: Coastal Resilience and Real Estate" tackles the challenges posed by coastal hazards such as sea level rise, storms, flooding, erosion, and subsidence. It provides best practices, resources, and case studies to help private and public sector professionals, as well as communities, integrate coastal resilience strategies into land use and real estate practices. These strategies equip coastal regions with mechanisms to prevent and recover from climate-related disasters. Explore the report here 🔗: https://bit.ly/ULI-Surge #CoastalResilience #ClimateChange
