📅 Date: September 5th ⏰ Time: 4-6 PM 📍 Location: East Village, Detroit (Little Village) Explore the ambitious cultural revitalization of Detroit's East Village neighborhood. The Shepherd, a 110-year-old Romanesque-style church, closed in 2016, has been reborn as a vibrant cultural arts center. This incredible adaptive reuse project, led by Peterson Rich Office (PRO), beautifully preserves historic architecture while introducing new gallery spaces, a public library, and community-focused classrooms and workshops. 🏞️ The grounds surrounding The Shepherd offer 3.5+ acres of newly accessible park and green space, thoughtfully designed by OSD. The Curises, in collaboration with the City of Detroit, East Village residents, and neighboring arts organizations, are establishing this area as Detroit’s next cultural district. Don't miss this chance to witness the transformation and vision behind The Shepherd—a project that’s shaping the future of Detroit’s cultural landscape. The tour will be followed by a networking happy hour at IVY Kitchen + Cocktails. 🥂 #ULIMichigan #TheShepherdDetroit #CulturalRevitalization #UrbanDevelopment #Detroit #YoungLeaders

The Urban Land Institute had the pleasure of touring Candela in Southwest Detroit on Tuesday. Owner and founder Paula Anderanin warmly welcomed us, guiding us through the project and sharing its story. Paula's hospitality shone through as she served up delicious food and made us feel right at home in this fantastic space. We eagerly anticipate enjoying live music here and celebrating with the community (check out the amazing events on their calendar for July!). Thanks to all who helped make this happen!

On June 24th, ADL Ventures and our partners at RMI are thrilled to be hosting a webinar on industrialized construction for high-performance affordable housing development. IC has been gaining a lot of traction recently as a solution to the construction industry's historic labor shortage, and we're working with partners at national, state, and local levels to develop strategies to connect the dots between supply-constrained local housing markets, cities interested in zoning and regulatory reform, and fabricators scaling production to make housing development cheaper, better, and faster. We will be speaking with Jennifer Castenson, Jake Levitas, MPA, MCRP, Caleb Roope, Rick Holliday, and Bali Kumar, looking at the financing, technical elements, market landscape, and the municipal regulation of modular construction. Especially looking forward to connecting with developers interested in building with modular.
