Standing in solidarity for Transgender Day of Visibility 🏳️⚧️ We celebrate transgender and gender-diverse people and recognise their contributions to society, while also raising awareness of the challenges they continue to face. At Workskil Australia, we stand in solidarity with trans and gender-diverse communities, particularly during a time when political climates both in Australia and abroad are making life increasingly difficult for many. Across the world, we are seeing rising discrimination, policy rollbacks, and heightened hostility towards LGBTQIA+ individuals. Now more than ever, it is crucial to support, uplift, and advocate for marginalised communities. We remain committed to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive environments where all individuals, regardless of gender identity, can thrive in their careers and lives. Everyone deserves the opportunity to be seen, heard, and respected. Today and every day, we stand with trans and gender-diverse people. Visibility matters. Inclusion matters. Equality matters. #TransDayOfVisibility #TDOV2025 #InclusionMatters #WorkskilAustralia #LGBTQIAPlus #TransRightsAreHumanRights

Exploring careers in metal fabrication and defence! Recently, 12 of our customers took part in an Industry Bites experience, getting an exclusive look into industries that feed into Defence. We kicked off in the City of Playford, visiting two major metal fabrication companies - Sonnex Pty Ltd and Williams Metal Fabrications. The participants had the opportunity to see an incredible range of machines in action, including robotic welding and laser cutting. They also had the chance to ask employers firsthand about career pathways, industry expectations, and what makes a great employee. Both employers went above and beyond, providing insights into how metal products are made and the skills required to work in the industry. After an inspiring morning, we headed to the Dolphin Sanctuary for some well-earned pizza and garlic bread, where participants connected with members of Playford Council. Over lunch, conversations focused on future job opportunities and industry growth, making it a valuable networking experience. To wrap up the day, we visited BAE Systems Australia, where participants gained a deeper understanding of the security measures and employment pathways in defence. From learning about the Hunter-class frigates currently under construction to exploring different roles and recruitment processes, it was an eye-opening experience into the world of ADF Careers. A big thank you to these employers for making this Industry Bites session a huge success! #IndustryBites #DefenceCareers #MetalFabrication #BAESystems #CareerOpportunities #FutureJobs

Celebrating success in Naarm (Melbourne)! We are beyond excited to announce the completion of the Upskill Global Pre-Employment Program, designed specifically to support First Nations participants on their path to meaningful employment. This significant milestone marks the first time this program has been delivered in Naarm and we couldn’t be prouder of the journey that both our participants and team have undertaken to make this happen. Graduation day aligned with International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD), and emphasised the importance of creating inclusive, equitable opportunities that allow all individuals, regardless of background, to thrive in the workforce. By promoting respect, equality, and opportunity, we are helping to break down barriers and pave the way for First Nations customers to excel in their careers. A massive congratulations to the 14 outstanding participants who graduated! Your resilience, commitment, and ambition inspire us all. This is about more than just skills development; it’s about creating lasting pathways to success and prosperity for First Nations communities. We would like to express our deep gratitude to our employment partners who attended the Deadly Yarns and Graduation events. Your presence and engagement provide an invaluable opportunity for our participants to showcase their growth and readiness for employment. The simple act of showing up and listening can be transformative, helping to build confidence and open doors for those who often feel excluded from the workforce. As we continue to break down barriers and create more inclusive, equitable opportunities, we invite employers to join us in this important mission. Your support can make a lasting impact in empowering First Nations customers and helping build a workforce that truly reflects the diversity of our communities. Together, we can create lasting change and provide opportunities that lead to long-term success for all. A sincere thank you to Upskill Global PTY LTD for partnering with us once again and being open to tailoring the program to the nuances of Naarm. * "Naarm" is the traditional Woi-wurrung word for Melbourne, meaning ‘place’ in the language of the Wurundjeri people, the traditional owners of the area. * Utilities Traffic Management | Reboot Australia | Worthy Cause | APM | Point Force Group | Workforce Australia - Local Jobs - Inner Metropolitan Melbourne | Department of Employment and Workplace Relations #FirstNations #IDERD #Inclusion #Diversity #Equity #Respect #EmploymentOpportunities #Naarm #CommunitySuccess #InclusiveWorkplace

Last week, Workskil Australia hosted the Leadership Lunch. This annual event highlights the importance of meaningful employment for marginalised job seekers and thanks our network of employers and industry representatives who make it possible. This year’s theme was the power of second chances, focused on the societal impact of employing women with justice histories. Attendees heard from local employers about their positive experiences employing women post-release. Filmmaker Shalom Almond, a keynote speaker, shared her experience working with women in prison for her documentary SONGS INSIDE. The speakers also included Emily Bourke, South Australian Minister for Emergency Services & Correctional Services, Dan Johnston, Chief Commercial Officer for Adelaide Football Club and Nicole Dwyer, CEO of Workskil Australia. A big thank you to the Adelaide Football Club for partnering with us to hold the Leadership Lunch, as part of our co-major sponsorship of the Adelaide Crows AFLW team.

High risk of homelessness among Australian job seekers 🚨 First Nations and young job seekers are at the highest risk of homelessness, according to our latest Work Watch report. The data reveals that more than half of registered job seekers facing homelessness are either First Nations people and/or 25 years old or younger. Workskil Australia is committed to breaking down barriers and creating pathways to employment and stability. Meeka’s story is proof that the right support can change lives. Once facing uncertainty and without stable housing, she struggled to plan for the future. But with the Home2Work program, she gained a secure home, essential life skills, and the confidence to chase new opportunities. Now, she’s stepping into a FIFO career with Contract Resources Pty Ltd, turning possibility into reality! Today marks National Close the Gap Day, a time to reflect on the ongoing disparities in health, life expectancy, employment, and education between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians. At Workskil Australia, we are committed to equality, fairness, and meaningful action to help close these gap in these areas. Through our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we are actively working to increase First Nations representation at all levels of our organisation. We also run First Nations-targeted employment programs across our service areas, designed to improve access to employment and education opportunities for First Nations peoples. There is still much work to be done, but by standing together, we can drive real change and build a more equitable future. #CloseTheGap #FirstNationsHealth #EmploymentForAll #CommunityAction
