About us

Save-On-Foods is a Pattison Food Group business with a legacy of outstanding value and customer service that dates back more than 100 years to its start in 1915. Originally named the Overwaitea Food Group for the founder’s practice of selling 18 ounces of tea for the price of 16, the store became known as the ‘overweight-tea’ store. With almost 22,000 team members throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon, Save-On-Foods is more than just a great place to shop—it’s a great place to work. Save-On-Foods is one of Western Canada’s largest employers and consistently ranks among B.C.’s Most Loved Brands. Supporting local communities is the foundation of the Save-On-Foods brand. Combined with its supplier partners, team members and generous customers, Save-On-Foods has donated more than $40 million to children’s hospitals, and contributes $3 million in donations to food banks across Western Canada each year. Save-On-Foods is committed to its core values of service, people, innovation, fun and integrity and strives to be the most loved and trusted employer, partner, corporate citizen and retailer in Canada by delivering Always Customer First service. 75 per cent of mental illnesses begin before the age of 25. Early intervention, treatment, and care are essential to preventing a lifetime of challenges and creating brighter futures for children and youth. Thanks to an extraordinary $15-million donation from Save-On-Foods—the largest mental health gift in our history—BC Children’s Hospital is leading a bold transformation in mental health care. With the support of their supplier partners, dedicated team members, and generous customers, Save-On-Foods has long been a champion for children’s health. This historic gift is their latest step in a legacy of giving that spans over $60 million to children’s hospitals across western Canada. This incredible donation will: • Establish Canada’s first Interventional Psychiatry Initiative, pioneering treatments like brain stimulation and digital therapeutics for severe mental illnesses. • Expand the Transition and Linking Care (TLC) Team, providing enhanced support for kids with complex mental health needs and their families. • Create an endowed Hospital Chair in Mental Health & Substance Use, driving research and innovation for generations to come. “This extraordinary $15-million gift from Save-On-Foods propels the vision for a brighter future for children across British Columbia,” said Malcolm Berry, president and CEO of BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “It empowers BC Children’s Hospital leadership to recruit top talent, expand critical programs, and transform how mental health care is delivered—creating meaningful change for thousands of young lives and, ultimately, stronger communities.” This milestone exemplifies the power of community partnerships. Thank you, Save-On-Foods, for your unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of children and families across BC and the Yukon.

  • For the sixth year in a row, Save-On-Foods, along with PriceSmart Foods and Urban Fare stores across Western Canada, participated in the Light the House campaign, raising important funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMH provides much needed housing and support to families while their children receive critical medical treatment. A huge thank you goes out to our generous customers and hard-working team members who raised an incredible $139,299 between November 28 and December 11 this year. #SaveOnFoods #PattisonFoodGroup #RonaldMcDonaldHouse #CommunitySupport
