Twelve outstanding real estate development projects were named as winners of the 2024 ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence and are now finalists for the 2024 Urban Land Institute (ULI) Global Awards for Excellence. Ahead of the global announcement, let's relive the Nantou Ancient City from Shenzhen.🏆 Congratulations to Shenzhen Vanke Development Co. Ltd., Vanke Urban Research, vaLue Development & Operation, reLifestyling Real Estate Management (Shanghai) Ltd! Nantou Ancient City is an extraordinary urban regeneration project that showcases the successful blend of historical preservation and modern urban village renewal. With over 1,700 years of history, the site retains iconic features like the city gate and ancestral hall, offering a unique branding edge that celebrates its past. 🏛️🌆 This project represents Shenzhen’s "Urban Village" concept, originally informal housing solutions for the city’s rapidly growing population. As a solution to the challenges of high-density living, such as hygiene and safety issues, the government initiated an improvement programme in 2018, selecting Nantou as a pilot for the innovative “Urban Space Operator” model. This regeneration effort, spanning 350,000 square meters and involving the refurbishment of 300 buildings, balances public and private interests through a successful joint venture (JV) strategy. Nantou Ancient City has become a sustainable model of urban renewal with its effective long-lease approach, setting the stage for revitalising urban villages across China. 🏘️🌱 Learn more about the winning projects across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, and Singapore here: https://lnkd.in/g2dWaKbv. #ULIAPAwards #ShenzhenArchitecture #UrbanRegeneration #CulturalPreservation ULI China Mainland May Chow
