Very positive to see the recent launch of the first phase of the Shanganagh Castle project by An Taoiseach Simon Harris and Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien. BSM is providing landscape architecture services on this important residential project to Walls Construction Limited Landscape works to the nearby Shanganagh Park and the new DART station are also on-going, which when combined with the Woodbrook development on the other side of the park, will realise the vision for the Woodbrook-Shanganagh Local Area Plan, creating a new community with excellent amenities and great public transport on its doorstep. Good news to see this scheme receiving planning consent - an important milestone in enhancing walking, cycling and the use of bus transport in Galway City Centre. BSM assisted Arup, National Transport Authority and Comhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe / Galway City Council with public realm and landscape design, landscape and visual impact assessment and visualisation services to support the planning application for the project.

It aims to serve as a model for regeneration, promoting compact growth, creating healthy and appealing public spaces, enhancing urban resilience, improving permeability, fostering vibrancy, and encouraging sustainable mobility. The multi-disciplinary consultancy team in Brady Shipman Martin and FaulknerBrowns delivered the Framework to act as a main driver for compact mixed-use urban development within the town centre of Tullamore and seeks to establish a vision for the development of several key opportunity sites. ➡️The Tullamore Grand Canal Harbour Masterplan, jointly commissioned by Waterways Ireland and Offaly County Council, has provided the prism through which future transformation and regeneration of the harbour area can be envisioned. Grafton Architects as the appointed consultancy team, have culminated their assessment of the study area in a Masterplan that reimagines the harbour area through a catalogue of scaled development opportunities. The Masterplan study area also includes the Grand Canal Harbour and adjacent lands, the Canal Spur Line enabling access into the harbour basin, and Young’s Store - a three-storey former warehouse with an approximate floor area of 275 square metres fronting the canal along Convent Road. How can urban mobility infrastructure benefit the community around it? Galway’s Salmon Weir Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge, an elegant three-span steel arch bridge spanning 55 metres, improves safety, accessibility and provides a new public space for leisure and a focal point for tourists. Flared approach spans integrate the bridge with the quays, drawing over 10,000 pedestrians and cyclists daily towards the river crossing. Working closely with Comhairle Cathrach na Gaillimhe / Galway City Council, Seán Harrington Architects and Brady Shipman Martin, we provided a comprehensive range of services including structural bridge design, planning, environmental, geotechnical, health and safety and landscape architecture.
