Meet Silje Dale Narum, affectionately nicknamed “professional bottle picker-upper” by her kids. At TOMRA our people share our vision of Leading the Resource Revolution and are passionate about driving change. Silje shares how this passion led her to working at TOMRA, in this awesome new video! 🙌 Each year, 1.4 trillion beverage containers are used around the world, representing a vast amount of material that can be collected and reused or recycled. If this is done in the right way, we can help protect our planet by minimizing plastic pollution and litter, conserving precious resources like energy and water, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. ♻️ 🌎 #WeAreTOMRA #TOMRApassion

#PlasticWaste Preventing plastic waste is everybody’s business, and especially the awesome recyclers who bring back their drink containers for reuse and recycling!   Drink containers are one of the most commonly-found litter items, and with a plastic bottle estimated to take 450 years to break down. Tides are shifting, and desire for change is coming from many directions: consumers are demanding responsible plastic use. Millions of people are participating in the Clean Loop by returning their drink containers for recycling, and we thank you for taking part. 🏆   Every year, TOMRA's reverse vending solutions capture just 3% of all the drink containers sold worldwide, so there's still plenty more to do! There’s also much we can all do to keep plastic out of nature through our everyday habits, also beyond drink containers: check out our guide! https://lnkd.in/dFziGnCP  Together, we can make a difference and keep trash out of society's streets, oceans, incinerators and landfills. 🌊 🚮   #PlasticPollution #CleanLoopRecycling

Your drink container has value! ♻️ At TOMRA, our solutions enable what we call #CleanLoopRecycling. Here, the separate return of drink containers via reverse vending machines like TOMRA’s gives the best starting point to ensure bottles, cans and other drink packaging can be turned into new containers – again and again and again! ♾️ Beverage containers returned through a reverse vending machine stay clean enough to keep their "food-grade" status, meaning they keep high enough quality to become packaging for drinks once more. Empty containers that come into contact with other household waste can become contaminated, so are often downcycled into different products – and thereby leave the Clean Loop. ➡️ By making it easy, convenient, and rewarding for people to return their used containers, TOMRA enables containers to be continuously recycled in a Clean Loop. 👍🏾 Get to know all about this Clean Loop Recycling business at https://lnkd.in/dhdbqNrf #GetInTheLoop #Recycling

💡 #PlasticWaste Plastic pollution is everybody’s business, and especially for those shaping the policy and legislation to prevent plastic waste. 📃   The amount of plastic pollution ending up in the oceans each year is equivalent to one garbage truck per minute, with an estimated 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the oceans. With 80% of ocean plastic originating on land, we must develop approaches to “turn off the tap”. Legislators are driving plastic waste strategies, such as deposit return schemes and the European Union’s Single-Use Plastics Directive targeting separate plastic bottle collection of 90% by 2029, and 30% recycled content in plastic bottles by 2030.   ♻️ TOMRA believes a #GlobalPlasticsTreaty has the power to address the plastic pollution crisis at scale. As leaders in the Resource Revolution, TOMRA has developed these 10 recommendations for the UN Treaty on Plastic Pollution to improve plastic circularity: https://lnkd.in/dsxPnh5c. TOMRA is an active member of the Business Coalition for a Global Plastics Treaty.    #PlasticsTreaty #PlasticPollution
