The Food4CE Project: Revolutionizing Food Supply Chains

About us

In a world where food production, logistics, and distribution are of paramount importance, the need for efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective supply chains has never been greater. The Food4CE project, an ambitious initiative funded by the European Union through the INTERREG Central Europe Programme, aims to do just that. The project brings together nine carefully selected project partners, each with their own expertise, competencies, and geographical relevance, all committed to the approach and the project. In addition, the project has the involvement of eight associated partners from five participating regions that will be actively involved in project activities. With such a diverse and interdisciplinary team, the Food4CE partnership can ensure the successful completion of the project. The partners are divided into three groups based on their role in the project: Knowledge providers (KP), regional facilitators (RF), and the network of logistics competence centers (NL). The knowledge partners are primarily experts in the field of logistics, which is the focus of this project. The Hungarian partner, for example, is an agricultural university with in-depth knowledge of local food production, food logistics requirements, and customer needs. By collaborating and supporting each other, the partners can address the short food supply chain thoroughly. The regional facilitators are responsible for engaging small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in their regions, such as farmers and transport companies, and creating conditions for open innovation. The participating RFs are of different types, but they are all related to innovation and business support for a large pool of SMEs in the region.

It’s rooted in the country’s #agricultural tradition and has gained importance since the 1970s. Today, one Austrian farmer can feed about 100 people, compared to just 61 in 2000. This shift shows how much more efficient and essential #local #foodsystems have become. 💬 In a recent interview to Die Presse, David Strauss from University of Applied Sciences discussed about the #FOOD4CEproject and the Austrian contribution to the project. 📰 Read the full article on our website: https://lnkd.in/d_x6FYzA #Interreg #Food4CE #Sustainability #UrbanLogistics #Innovations

🇮🇹 On Thursday November 14th, 2024, the Italian partner ITL (Institute for Transport and Logistics Foundation) had the opportunity to present #Food4CEproject at the ❞𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐥’𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐞❞ (𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥) in Bologna, held from 11th to 15th of November. 🤝 The event was a great opportunity to connect with innovative start-ups, corporates, researchers and professionals operating in this field through virtual roundtable, speed #networking, 1-to-1 matchmaking service and an extra day dedicated to in-person networking. 🧑🌾This year’s event covered different aspects of the #foodsector; agriculture, animal farming, transformation, distribution and consuming were the thematic days of the festival. The Food4CE project, which aims to support Alternative Food Networks (#AFNs) in creating a #sustainable and resilient food supply system, was represented at the event by ITL. Andrei Lucian Turlea from ITL participated on the fourth day, which focused on innovation in food distribution, presenting the Food4CE project and its contributions to the Alternative Food Networks. 🙌 With over 100 agricultural #stakeholders connected from all Italian regions, the festival provided a great stage to spread the voice about the project mission and to inform about the Italian #Innovation Hub established by ITL, Localog - Piattaforma per la Logistica Contadina, launched on November 19th, 2024. 📰 Read the full news here: https://lnkd.in/dNr3RJ9r
