We are honoured to be working with The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association across a number of sites around the UK & are excited that their proposed training centre at Tollgate House, adjacent the National Centre at Bishop’s Tachbrook, Leamington Spa has received planning permission. The landscape design works cohesively with the building, providing external opportunities for the training of guide dogs who will go on to positively change people’s lives. We are pleased to have been part of the wider design team of Kay Elliott Architects | MDA Consulting | Buro Happold | Box Twenty Consulting Engineers | Curtins | Luken Beck & iTransport Planning (iPRT Group) #landscapedesign #guidedogsfortheblind #raingardens #publicrealm

We believe in creating extraordinary effects with ordinary things to deliver meaningful and much loved public spaces. We are a dynamic, energetic & dedicated firm of landscape architects committed to the integration of sustainable design to deliver amazing places. We have worked on some of the highest profile squares, streetscapes & campus renaissance projects in the country. Our approach combines contemporary sustainable design with creative ecology looking to glean the unique genius loci from each place – our designs draw inspiration from the history, ecology, environment, use & character of the site. We relish collaborating in multidisciplinary teams pushing the boundaries of contemporary design using technological innovation and sustainable materials. We welcome input from local communities / stakeholders and believe this is the best and most satisfying means to deliver a successful and original scheme in which everyone can take pride and have a sense of ownership. Transforming Filwood Broadway As a number of our projects on Filwood Broadway move from design and planning towards construction, it felt like a good time to pause and get the colouring pencils out. This overview image shows some of the projects we're building or stewarding with local partners over the next 18 months to bring forward a comprehensive regeneration of the high street. This includes: 🏫 The retrofit and expansion of Filwood Community Centre, led by Hayhurst and Co., with 1000sqm of new community space including a new area for Filwood Library, and refurbishment of 1300sqm of existing space. An image shows the new event space, part of the front extension onto the Broadway. (4) 🏘️ 🏬 48 new council homes and 1000sqm of new commercial/community space, including 4-16 Filwood Broadway and the former Filwood cinema, with projects designed by RCKa and Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands for BCC's HRA. An image shows the rear of 4-16, overlooking the resident’s garden. (1 & 5) 🌳 🤸 🚴♂️ A public realm and highways improvement project led in-house by BCC Engineering Design. The scheme will improve walking, cycling, and play space as part of overall streetscape, biodiversity, and SuDs improvements. (2) 🏪 A high street improvement project, led by ARCHITECTURE 00 , George Lovesmith, Studio Mothership (Ken Borg) and UNINVITED GUESTS LTD , with short term improvements tied into a long term plan for the Broadway. This includes physical shopfront works, temporary uses, and community and business development. A diagram shows the overall strategy being delivered alongside the high street working group. (6) 🥅 A new Multi Use Games Area on Filwood Playing Fields. Exciting news to be announced on this project shortly. The relocation will also enable a further housing-led scheme to come forward on the Broadway. (3) 🎇 Filwood In Motion, a public art project developed with Knowle West Media Centre and BCC Arts Development, with a 12 month residency with artists Linzy Na Nakorn and Rachael Clerke now underway. A Royal opening for Mulberry Academy London Dock! On February 4th 𝐇𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐝 Mulberry Academy London Dock marking a momentous occasion for this 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞-𝐨𝐟-𝐭𝐡𝐞-𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐡𝐚𝐮𝐬-𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥. Designed by Architype and with school grounds layered over 8 distinct roof terraces designed by BD landscape architects this project has been delivered with 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 at its core. It features cutting-edge learning facilities, a basement sports hall and games area, and multi-layered landscape with playgrounds, social and teaching spaces on various levels - maximising every inch of the site. Our roof terrace designs feature productive growing gardens for pupils, a Science Garden, sixth form terraces, and external teaching and social spaces. These each incorporate trees in raised planters, podium landscape, living walls, bird and bat boxes, plus biodiverse roofs to enhance the urban greening and biodiversity value of the site. We selected the statuesque multistem trees alongside Dr Vanessa Ogden, CEO of the Mulberry Schools Trust. David Rowsell, MD, Kier Construction London & Thames Valley commented: “It has been a privilege to work alongside the Mulberry Schools Trust, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the Department for Education, Architype, BD Landscape Architects, Walsh, and our other key delivery partners to bring the vision for Mulberry Academy London Dock to life. The state-of-the-art co-educational school is one of the first Passivhaus schools in the UK, representing a milestone in sustainable, innovative design and construction delivery. Integrating the area’s history and local character while addressing air quality, noise, and safety challenges, the school will provide a dynamic and inspiring space for students and the wider community for many generations to come.” Jenna Watkins Rob Beswick Guto Jones
