Delighted to share that the new Mental Health Unit at Dorothy Pattison Hospital has now opened. 🏥 The project has replaced a former renal unit with a single-storey facility that specialises in care for older patients and dementia. Long before our structural engineering team were involved, our environmental and geotechnical engineers were onsite conduct their Phase 1 and 2 investigations, coal mining risk assessments, stabilisation for mine workings and an earthworks strategy, which enabled the building works to progress. With a growing need for dementia care in the UK, we're proud to have been part of the team to deliver this new facility, alongside Gilling Dod Architects and Kier Construction. #wearecurtins #buildingabetterfuture #healthcare #environmentalengineering https://lnkd.in/erzHZPr4

We're extremely pleased to be part of the team delivering town regeneration works in the home of one of longest established offices, Kendal. As part of the project, the Westmorland Shopping Centre will be converted into a new campus for the local college, bringing students right into the town centre. Excellent news all round, and we're proud to be supporting the scheme as it moves forward under the allocated funding. #WeAreCurtins #BuildingABetterFuture #Kendal #TownRegeneratation
Very pleased that Curtins are part of what's now been confirmed as the first of a round of regeneration works in #kendal, starting with the (much needed) overhaul of the indoor market. Exciting announcement, look forward to the details on the next phases from Westmorland and Furness Council! BBC News - Millions for town's revamp confirmed https://lnkd.in/gHJSC4iS

Today I attended another insightful Manchester and Salford Crane Survey hosted by Deloitte at their amazing new offices at Cathedral Approach. Some takeaways include the strength of the residential market, including student resi, and a buoyant hotel sector. Office refurbs are also on the up. Whilst the strength of the Manchester and Salford market was set against the wider geopolitical backdrop, Greater Manchester’s “unique characteristics” to enable development provided an overriding positive outlook for the region. Thanks for the invite! Ed Britton Rachel Poole Jennifer Chatfield Mikey Percival Katie Wray John Cooper Curtins

In 2024, we secured planning consent for an ambitious residential-led regeneration project in Southampton. The site previously had planning permission for an 11-storey PBSA scheme - an inward-looking development that offered little to the wider community. Our revised proposal is a 17-storey co-living scheme designed to deliver meaningful regeneration. This project not only meets the needs of residents, the operator and the investor, but also brings wider community benefits beyond the site boundary - an example of our Positive Legacy Commitment in action. Key features include: ▶️ Community spaces – A new South Yard, creating opportunities for pop-up businesses as the neighbourhood evolves, alongside a café that will be accessible to all ▶️ Public realm improvements – Creating a more welcoming and accessible environment for existing residents and those moving through the area, with improved routes across the railway to encourage connectivity ▶️ Biodiversity improvements– Delivering more than 3500% net gain through nature corridors at ground level and a mix of green and brown roofs at upper levels. A truly regenerative approach that can enhance the city of Southampton and deliver lasting value. #CoLiving #SharedLiving #ForABetterTomorrow #BiodiversityNetGain #Southampton Urban Wilderness Curtins CPW James Alexander Design

We’re rounding off the week with some excellent news on our Hind Street project in Birkenhead. 🟢 It has received the green light from Wirral Council for the development of 1500 new homes over 27 acres, with Phase One delivering 633 homes and more than 14,000 sq ft of commercial space! 🎉 Our civils, environmental and geotechnical teams will now commence work on the final stages of the technical design for the enabling works, to allow Phase One of this exciting Birkenhead masterplan to continue. Well done to everyone who has contributed to getting the scheme to this point, including project client Ion Property Developments Limited, Plan-It Landscape, and Architect BDP (Building Design Partnership Ltd).
