🙌Congratulations to Willmott Dixon who we have recently featured in a case study - demonstrating the practical and financial benefits that a robust approach to improving safety and reducing risk can have for the business: https://lnkd.in/eGg2FNbM Demonstrating leadership in driver safety👇 “Our health and safety record for our workforce and sites is exemplary, but we were aware that we needed to meet these same standards for #driversafety and #fleetriskmanagement. We were also aware of the need to provide appropriate training for our drivers for our new electric vehicles which are part of our sustainability goals. Fleet risk management is now at the forefront with our people and is totally aligned with our company values and beliefs.” Sareen Dhillon, Group Fleet Compliance Manager. The results of this commitment to improving driver safety and reducing road risk are impressive: Business Benefits in 2023 vs 2022: ✅22% at-fault collision reduction for company cars ✅7% reduction in at fault collisions for vans ✅Van driver speeding down 20% ✅Average driver risk score improved 35% ✅200 hours saved in claims management time ✅Driver compliance across all vehicles is 99.2% ✅Reduction in driver offences by 18% for all car drivers – including grey fleet Learn more about how the Driving for Better Business programme can support your organisation - small or large - in improving driver safety and reducing risk, and download the full case study on our website: https://lnkd.in/eGg2FNbM Simon Turner MARRM MAFP Anne-Marie Penny DipASM MARRM Sharon Mitchell Jim Magner FCILT, MARRM Nigel Holmes Mark Cartwright Becky Hadley Sareen Dhillon ADRIAN walsh CLOCS Construction News Constructing West Midlands London Construction Programme Women in Construction

Our vision is a world where those who use the roads for work do so safely, efficiently and sustainably #fleetmanagement
About us
Driving for work is the most dangerous activity most employees ever undertake. Driving for Better Business is a campaign to help employers better understand the business benefits, such as reduced costs and improved efficiency, that come from managing work related road safety well. Our mission is to improve safety and reduce risk for all those who drive or ride for work, by promoting good management practice and demonstrating the significant business benefits that follow. It was officially launched in 2007 following a study showing that this area of road safety is often overlooked, both in workplace health and safety processes, and public road safety initiatives. Indeed surveys suggested at the time that some 79% of companies had not even recognised this as a risk area, and many employers still don’t. Yet it is an area where some organisations have achieved remarkable reductions in collisions, and associated costs, through relatively simple measures. These organisations are our ‘Champions’ and they have agreed to share their inspirational stories with other businesses. Their success in reducing collisions has brought them a range of benefits including lower insurance premiums, improved fuel efficiency, improved reputation and even reductions in recruitment costs due to lower staff churn because they are now better places to work.

🪪Driving Licence checks – how often do you check your drivers? https://lnkd.in/eGiX6NH4 ⚠️Managing road risk starts with checking that your drivers are qualified for the vehicle they are using. It might be seem obvious. After all, most recruitment processes involve all kinds of checks – does the person have the necessary skills, qualifications, references required for the role? Unless the candidate is a vocational driver, or driving is a central part of the role, checking their driving licence is easily overlooked. 👉Fact: if your employee will ever have to drive in connection with their job, a regular licence check is a legal necessity, stipulated by Section 87 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and the Corporate Manslaughter Act 2007. It is the employer’s responsibility to know that an employee is qualified to drive a specific class of vehicle - official guidance says you should check during recruitment, and then at regular intervals. 🤔Do any of your employees drive their own vehicles while at work or for work related purposes? What are your legal compliance and duty of care obligations? https://lnkd.in/emYVxwUa When employees use their own vehicles for work-related purposes, the term often used for that group of drivers is a ‘grey fleet’. Managing a ‘grey fleet’ comes with its own set of challenges and considerations – but one thing that remains constant is your legal #compliance and #dutyofcare responsibilities. Even if an employee is driving a personal vehicle for work, you still need to show the same level of commitment to managing road risk and protecting the drivers’ #healthandsafety as you would for leased, company-owned or hired vehicles. A best practice driving for work policy is a valuable resource which will inform both your drivers and law enforcement of what your organisation is doing to protect grey fleet drivers and other road users. With the Driving for Better Business driving at work policy template, you can include a specific section for grey fleet – so you can have peace of mind that you are dealing with the range of challenges across your fleet. 🤔Is your Driving for Work policy good enough? Having a comprehensive and up to date driving for work policy is the essential first step for any employer with staff who drive for work. It is effectively a legal requirement under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Once you have a policy, it needs to be communicated effectively, reviewed regularly and updated as necessary. Join us at Safety, Health & Wellbeing Live in October for this keynote session - How to create a ‘Good Practice’ Driving for Work Policy - and a demo of our Driving for Work Policy Builder - you can register for free here: https://lnkd.in/eGb2pZhF #safetyatwork #healthandsafety #riskmanagement #compliance #drivingforwork #driversafety
