We often talk about the importance of including and elevating youth voices when addressing problems that affect them. But knowing exactly how to do this can be difficult. Hopelab, Center for Digital Wellbeing and Character Lab have come together to create a new resource - Youth Voice Playbook - to offer practical tools and some food for thought when it comes to engaging youth voices. Great report by Fozia Irfan OBE calling on a new form of philanthropy: Transformative Philanthropy. "Transformative philanthropy is not merely a concept but it is a call to act differently. It places at its heart, principles of social justice but also includes a number of other dimensions necessary for social change. It is a concerted effort to recognise the failings of traditional philanthropy and build a new paradigm which reimagines the place we inhabit, the role we play and the values we embody. In this report, Fozia explains how philanthropy can and should transcend mere charity or goodwill and become a catalyst for social transformation, and provides guidance on how we can get there. Happy reading! https://lnkd.in/eDQKEb24

A massive congrats to The Man Cave for this huge news!!
Big day for The Man Cave today! The Albanese Government announced their investment into the next generation of young men as part of the ‘Healthy MaTe’ trial. Alongside other incredible organisations we will receive $1.1m to subsidise our services for schools from low SES, regional or rural backgrounds, and measure the long term effectiveness of our programs. Our amazing team have worked so bloody hard to advocate for prevention-focused funding (not just crisis management) when it comes to mental illness and men’s violence against women. So whilst there is still much more to do, this is a very important step in the right direction. Thank you for your leadership Amanda Rishworth and the Department of Social Services, it was great to have our friend and supporter Peter Khalil with us, and the four young legends (Harry, Marko, Jethro & Campbell) who joined our press conference were the clear standouts! 🙏

''What’s your vision for a mentally healthy workforce? 🤔 '' We asked the current and future health workforce around the world to learn more about the support they need.. 💬⬇️ Christopher Dakat from IFMSA | International Federation of Medical Students' Associations Nigeria is calling for health workplaces to create safe, respectful and supportive environments where asking for mental health support is met without judgement. • Regular wellness check ups and counselling for health workers. • More access to mental health help and resources. • Prioritising flexible work-life balance. Global health systems need to learn from those within it: to listen and respond to the needs of health workers. Learn more about the challenges health workers are facing in this blog from Dr Hamdi Issa and discover the solutions we can work together on to support this crucial workforce 🔗bit.ly/3ZSfADu Africa CDC ICN-International Council of Nurses World Health Organization #WorldMentalHealthDay #WMHD #WorkplaceMentalHealth #WMHD2024 #WorkplaceWellness

It’s been three years since we said goodbye to Pranaiya and Arthur, but they remain as vivid in our hearts and minds as ever. I've written a short piece reflecting on the past 3 years and the plans for PAM Foundation going forward: https://lnkd.in/enCJKZ-H Today, World Mental Health Day, we're announcing a matched-funding campaign, where every £1 you donate will be matched by The Big Give and other supporters, resulting in a total £2 to PAM; more details can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eZszVsMP This will run for the next month only, so we ask for your support, either directly or sharing our plans, to achieve our goal. Thank you to everyone for your continuing support. #PPD #PostpartumDepression #PerinatalMentalHealth #MentalHealth #Health

On this World Mental Health Day, the British Asian Trust is delighted to announce the launch of one of the largest ever global mental health initiatives. Our nationwide "Milkar" campaign will reach over 100 million people in Pakistan over the next year. An estimated 1 in 4 people in #Pakistan experience mental health issues and millions suffer silently due to stigma. Our campaign will spread vital mental health awareness and lead to long-term sustainable and systemic change across the whole country. #WMHD #WorldMentalHealthDay

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we are excited to be launching our very first Next Wave Champions report! The Next Wave Champions are a global community of private funders committed to supporting mental health advocacy, awareness and services. We aim to accelerate system change towards a mentally healthy world by encouraging and helping new funders to integrate mental health into their work. Our support aims to be super practical - snappy briefs that help you navigate what's going on; 121 masterclasses from your peers on tricky stuff that can trip us all up; and recommendations on organisations we've funded who we think are doing fantastic work and advisors whose help we've found to be invaluable. The report, co-created by the Next Wave Champions, aims to inspire and accelerate our collective understanding of how supporting global mental health can accelerate progress across the Sustainable Development Goals. If you're a funder who is curious to know more about getting started in mental health and/or integrating mental health into a correlated area of philanthropy, please do drop us a message! We had so much fun attending the Brain Capital UK Summit in London today! Thank you to Kooth Digital Health (United Kingdom) for organising such an amazing line up, to Sir Norman Lamb for being a wonderful chair and to our good friend Harris Eyre MD PhD for your continued enthusiasm and inspiration. We had the chance to hear from some fantastic speakers (not least our very own CEO Jules Chappell OBE who spoke on a panel about Impact Investing for Brain Capital) about blended capital, AI, prevention, youth mental health, and more! Another stand out for us was hearing from Mithu Storoni, author of Hyperefficient, on our collective need to reframe what ‘efficiency’ looks like and how the way we measure it must change in this increasingly AI-powered world. Find out more about her work here: https://lnkd.in/eynVha_r One thing that we learned is that we need to harness the collective power of our brain capital to meet the many challenges that we face. And in order to do that, we must co-ordinate different stakeholders to start leaning into creating a brain positive economy that can help drive the change we need to see!
