Time is of the essence in the race against climate change and Low Carbon is making a lasting impact by scaling our work to create more renewables and get our projects operational as quickly as possible. We stand committed to assist the UK reach its goal for a “zero-carbon electricity system by the end of this decade.” Low Carbon will contribute foremost with the recently approved Gate Burton Energy Park (View the project: https://lnkd.in/e9DMTUEg) – a 500MW solar farm that will provide energy for the equivalent of 160,000 homes. On the subject, Low Carbon’s Ed Birkett contributed to Bloomberg’s analysis of How the UK Can Get a Zero Carbon Power Grid. “Time is short,” said Ed Birkett, New Projects Director at Low Carbon. “These assets take quite a long time to build and there are long lead times on ordering new equipment at the moment.” Read the Bloomberg article: https://lnkd.in/evnb-DgF This UK target is an investment for the long-term benefit of people and the planet. We can work together to build a completely renewable energy system that will be a profound legacy for the generations that follow us. Low Carbon is on a mission. Low Carbon welcomes the approval of Gate Burton Energy Park. This decision by the Secretary of State for the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero reaffirms Low Carbon’s position as the market leader for UK solar. Gate Burton Energy Park has a capacity of 500MW, and once built, we estimate that it will provide enough renewable energy to power approximately 160,000 homes with clean, secure electricity and play a key role supporting the government's mission of delivering a net zero grid by 2030. “Timely decision-making is fundamental to the success of clean energy infrastructure and after months of political indecision on key projects this provides a clear signal to investors and the supply chain that the government is serious about giving priority to energy projects in the planning system,” said Mike Rutgers, Managing Director of UK Development at Low Carbon. To fight climate change, create a Net Zero UK, and build energy resilience, the UK needs large-scale renewable energy projects such as Gate Burton Energy Park. The technology is here and renewables are the best way to become self-reliant as a nation and is a vital part of our path to a future free of fossil fuels. Low Carbon is making a defining contribution to the historic effort to move the world to 100% renewable energy. We can work together to build a completely renewable energy system that will be a profound legacy for the generations that follow us. Low Carbon is on a mission. Together, we will power tomorrow. #Renewables #PoweringTomorrow #Solar #LowCarbon

Low Carbon is pleased to announce that we have fully commissioned Fox Covert Solar Farm. The 23MW UK project in Buckinghamshire, UK has entered full operations by issuing the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC).   This announcement follows the news that Low Carbon’s Ter Apel Solar Farm became our first Dutch site to reach this landmark moment.   Fox Covert Solar Farm has the capacity to generate enough renewable energy to power more than 10,000 homes and is expected to avoid approximately 10,000 tonnes of CO2e emissions annually. View more on Fox Covert here: https://lnkd.in/eZcZMqnR   To help deliver Fox Covert, Low Carbon have partnered with leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, EQUANS, with whom we are working closely together on a large portfolio of UK solar projects.   Low Carbon’s Managing Director of Portfolio Management, Steven Hughes said: “We are thrilled to have reached this major milestone for our first UK solar project since becoming an IPP. The project will play an important role helping decarbonise the local grid network, while delivering a series of biodiversity enhancements that will boost nature around the site. The successful delivery of Fox Covert has been achieved by working in lockstep with our partners, Equans, who are playing a vital role in helping us get as much renewable energy on the system as possible to fight climate change.”   Gregory Allouis, Energy Solutions Director at Equans UK & Ireland said: “On behalf of Equans UK & Ireland, I am pleased to announce that we achieved PAC at Fox Covert Solar Farm for our loyal customer Low Carbon. This important milestone in the life of a solar project was achieved in May 2024 and is testament to our excellent collaborative approach. Low Carbon have an ambitious strategy for the deployment of new solar assets in the UK; it is with the full commitment of our Equans Solar & Storage team that we will carry on delivering these critical assets for the UK economy and its communities, on the path towards Net Zero!”   Fox Covert Solar Farm is the first in a 5 GW pipeline of solar and battery projects that Low Carbon is currently developing in the UK.
