It's always exciting to see an idea come to life. Today, I got to open up our new in-store marketing kits for independent retailers, and they look so good!🎉 Last year’s kits were a huge hit, so we took what worked, refreshed the design, and added new resources. Now 100 more free kits are available just in time for Earth Day in April and World Ocean Day in June. Reach out to me if you're interested! These kits make it easy for retailers to highlight the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified sustainable seafood they already have on shelves with aisle blades, shelf wobblers, and fridge clings that help sustainability stand out. Das bedeutet, wenn wir keinen Fisch importieren würden, gäbe es ab heute keinen Fisch mehr zu kaufen! 🌎 Rund 90% des in Deutschland konsumierten Fisches muss importiert werden. Aber global sind die Meere überfischt, auch die Nord- und Ostsee. Und in der Fischindustrie dominieren große industrielle Fangflotten. 💪 Deshalb stärken wir nachhaltiges Management der Fischbestände, handwerkliche Kleinfischerei, umweltschonende Aquakultur und Bekämpfung der illegalen Fischerei. Dieses Jahr engagieren wir uns im Rahmen des EU-Ozeanpakts und der UN-Ozeankonferenz 2025 für mehr Nachhaltigkeit in der Fischerei. Knowledge sharing in Kerala 🇮🇳 This week MSC’s Head of Fisheries Standard Accessibility, Amanda Lejbowicz, delivered several capacity building sessions to fisheries stakeholders in Kochi and Trivandrum, in the Kerala region of India. Hosted by the Sustainable Seafood Network of India in partnership with WWF-India and the Seafood Exporters Association of India, the events gathered 90 representatives from government, the eNGO, research and commercial worlds to learn and discuss challenges and opportunities for sustainable fisheries in India – covering the fundamentals of the MSC’s Fisheries Standard with emphasis on effective fisheries management and fishery improvement project (FIP) action plan implementation. Engaged FIP teams are set drive a select 12 species towards the level required for entering MSC certification, thanks to the expressed commitment from the Kerala government represented at the meeting by the State Fisheries Department Secretary, B Abdul Nasar. Local stakeholders expect the first of these fisheries to enter full assessment against MSC’s Fisheries Standard by the end of the year 🙌

🎉 A Huge Success – The 2025 ASC MSC Sustainable Seafood Awards Australia! 🏆🐟 This week, industry leaders from across Australia's seafood sector gathered at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia to celebrate the stakeholders paving the way for a more sustainable future for our oceans and blue foods. From fisheries and retailers to chefs, environmental advocates, and educational institutions, this event brought together the people making a real impact on seafood sustainability. Master of ceremonies and science communicator Laura Wells, led the event with two inspiring and insightful panel discussions exploring blue foods and the importance of third-party verified sustainable standards before we celebrated this year’s well-deserving award winners. 🏅 A special thank you to the outstanding moderator and panelists Anne Gabriel Dr Darian McBain Kiarne Treacy Melanie Robertson Heidi Walker Nina 'Teddie' Huynh Rebecca Pedler Matt Poll and to Defy Design, the all-in-one design studio, plastic recycler, and manufacturer, for crafting the beautiful trophies – a symbol of innovation and sustainability. **We would also like to acknowledge those who were unable to attend due to the severe weather forecasts.
