The finishing touches are being made to the Supported Living Village in Hebburn. This specialist scheme for Karbon Homes and South Tyneside Adult Social Services delivers ten bespoke bungalows designed for individuals with autism and complex learning disabilities, alongside dedicated staff accommodation to ensure high quality care. At the heart of the development lies a central courtyard, providing a welcoming space for socialising and independence while keeping residents closely connected to the support they need. As part of a wider initiative by South Tyneside Council to promote independent living for those with complex care needs, we have also designed a mix of bungalows and supported living apartments at the former Nolan Hall site in Jarrow, which is also nearing completion. Delivered in partnership with Able Construction (Northern) Ltd, alongside CK21 Ltd, Storm Tempest, Artis Consulting Ltd, and Southern Green Ltd, these specialist housing schemes will soon offer residents a safe and supportive place to call home. Take a look at our site stories to see how these developments have taken shape throughout construction. Father James Walsh: https://lnkd.in/eShuXW8t Nolan Hall: https://lnkd.in/esgyCrGE

We are excited to share that the Northumbria Health and Care Academy has been shortlisted for the Best Primary Care Design at this years Healthcare Design Awards. Located on the grounds of the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Hospital, the Academy combines advanced training facilities with a fully operational GP practice under one roof. This co-located design offers healthcare students hands-on experience in a real-world clinical setting, bridging the gap between theory and practice. Extensive collaboration with Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Northumbria Primary Care shaped the flexible layout, featuring consulting rooms of varying sizes and spaces for digital consultations to meet the growing demand for virtual care. Yesterday I visited Cumberland Infirmary, where we’re delivering a brand new Endoscopy facility for our clients, Ergea. This modern, bright building will significantly improve patient experience, reduce waiting times, and provide staff with an exceptional working environment. A standout feature of this project is the inclusion of a “green roof” and a social garden, designed to create a calming, outdoor space for patients and staff alike. I genuinely believe this is one of our most impressive buildings to date, and I can’t wait to see the final result. With many more projects in the pipeline, it’s an exciting time for Actiform– watch this space! A huge thank you to the teams making this possible: Ergéa CCL Solutions North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust DG Scott Electrical Contractors Bender P+HS Architects And a special thank you to our head of projects Kat Collington , project manager Rob Bailey, site supervisor Charlie Butterfield and site manager Pete Gibson. Your hard work and dedication are truly bringing this project to life. Here are some progress shots, completion due mid March 25! Actiform The Modular and Portable Building Association

The new Urgent and Emergency Care scheme for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust has been named a finalist in the Best Acute Design category at this year’s Healthcare Design Awards with Healthcare Property. Designed at the height of the covid 19-pandemic, this transformative project spans two key hospital sites—Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana Princess of Wales Hospital. The scheme delivered new Emergency Departments, Same Day Emergency Care units, and Integrated Acute Assessment Units, aligning accommodation and clinical pathways across both locations. The result? A streamlined and cohesive model of urgent and emergency care that enhances the quality and consistency of patient care. But this project is about more than functionality. The design incorporates thoughtful details that make a significant improvement to the patient experience. Tailored paediatric waiting areas, complete with cubby holes and a vibrant jungle theme helps younger patients feel at ease and digital sky installations bring a sense of the outdoors into deep-plan spaces. Every feature has been carefully designed to reduce stress and soften the clinical atmosphere. We’re incredibly proud of this project and the impact it’s already having. Thank you to the fantastic team and partners who made it happen! Kier Group | Mott MacDonald | WT (UK & Europe) Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eewFCWPX

As our 40th year draws to a close, we’re celebrating a year of growth, exciting change, and the continued strength of our exceptional team. This year, our 40 Year Relay Challenge took us on a cross-country expedition from Manchester to Newcastle, connecting our four offices and raising an incredible £20,000 for the Trussell Trust. Along the way, we had the chance to visit many of the buildings we’ve designed, seeing first hand the lasting impact they continue to have on the communities they serve. Experiencing our work not just in plans, but as living, breathing places that enhance lives, has been incredibly rewarding and serves as a reminder of the meaningful difference we can make through human-centric design. Looking ahead, the architectural landscape is shifting, and as sectors merge, we are uniquely positioned for the future - leveraging our diverse expertise and the creativity of our talented team to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. #oneteam #ambitious #progressive #proudofourreputation

We really are coming to the last of our 40th year reflections now, we promise. Obviously, we couldn’t have reflected back on this year without mentioning our fantastic new Managing Director James Almond, after saying our farewells to previous MD, Christopher Dennis. We hope Chris is enjoying his much-deserved retirement, whilst James is well and truly settled into his new role. James is celebrating his first Christmas as Santa... sorry - MD this year, and it certainly looks like he’s had a fantastic time.
