⚡ It’s no industry secret that the UK’s electricity network upgrade is one of the most complex areas of the energy transition — but we’re here to simplify it. At Scottish Renewables, we understand that navigating policy packed with acronyms and technical jargon isn’t easy. That’s why we've broken it all down for you. We’ve written a blog and created an infographic covering the ‘who, what and when’ of the major plans and taskforces driving our future electricity network and outlined how they are all interacting to shape the future of the UK’s energy grid. 👉 Read the blog on our website: https://lnkd.in/eNvevxyd. #EnergyTransition #ElectricityNetwork #NetZero #CleanEnergy #Renewables

What a week last week at #FloatingWind24 in Aberdeen! I had the pleasure of welcoming delegates for the Scottish Clusters Breakfast bright and early on day one and then closing the day in the final session which featured a panel of 11 developers, each sharing a rapid-fire project update. Currently, there is 245MW of floating wind operational worldwide. That is across 15 projects in seven countries with Norway leading the way, followed by the UK. There is much more to come. Not just in Scotland and the UK which represents a huge and immediate opportunity but across the globe with recent announcements revealing that the global floating pipeline has grown by 9% over the last 12 months to a whopping 266GW. A big thanks to our 11 developers in the rapid-fire session who represented a snapshot of that pipeline and thanks to all who joined us for the conference over the two days. ➡️ SAVE THE DATE: Next year we are back in Aberdeen on November 12-13, 2025. It’s never too early to secure your exhibition stand, get in touch with events@scottishrenewables.com now. #FloatingWind24 #renewables #floatingoffshorewind

A successful couple of days for the SRA Project Manager, who alongside colleagues from SAMS Enterprise, attended the 2024 Scottish Renewables Floating Offshore Wind conference in Aberdeen! 🌊 #FloatingOffshoreWind #Renewables #Conference #Innovation #ScientificRoboticsAcademy

Day 2 of the Scottish Renewables 2024 Floating Offshore Wind conference continued conversations around infrastructural and innovation demands, to optimise performance and extend the life of offshore wind structures. I also attended a breakfast briefing event led by Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, which described their exciting plans to accelerate the consenting process for offshore renewable deployment by 40%❕ To top the day off, once our team arrived back home in Oban, we were greeted by the brilliant Aurora Borealis show 🌌 Overall, a very engaging and fun couple of days! #FloatingOffshoreWind #Renewables #Conference #ScientificRoboticsAcademy #Innovation

A busy few days for Team FMS last week, as we attended the RenewableUK/Scottish Renewables Floating Offshore Wind. Plenty to discuss with industry delegates who visited our stand, but also an opportunity to share our expertise and insight as our Principal Engineer & Head of Renewables, Tom McCombes, took to the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult stage to discuss the installation of fibre rope for floating offshore wind. #floatingoffshorewind #offshorewind #renewables #energytransition #floatingwind24

Last week, the Ossian team attended the RenewableUK Scottish Renewables Floating Offshore Wind conference. Insightful sessions, panels and talks highlighted exactly how much our industry has progressed over the last year, and how far we still have to go. Key to the event were discussions on the importance of First Minister John Swinney's goal for an efficient and dynamic consenting process as well as the acceptance that a partnership approach between industry and government will be needed to realise floating wind's full potential to the Scottish and UK economies. It was also clear from many of the discussions that continued stakeholder engagement, particularly the need for consistent engagement with fisheries stakeholders will be important. We’re looking forward to seeing how the industry develops over the next year as it continues to grow and strive towards achieving net zero. Reflecting on the excitement from #Floatingwind24 in Aberdeen! 🍃 The event hosted by RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables was truly fantastic, showcasing cutting-edge technology, groundbreaking projects, and engaging panel discussions. We hosted a well-attended session with oil and gas companies to present status for the Green Volt and Cenos projects and the opportunities in decarbonising their operations. Several other key stakeholders were present, and we discussed the benefits and challenges in electrification with floating offshore wind. Stephen Bull OBE, Rui Rui Wang CEng MICE, and Charlotte Elmelid provided on stage vital insights into real projects like Green Volt and the opportunities within the UK. As highlighted in the Floating Offshore Wind Taskforce report released by the UK Government and industry last week, floating offshore wind represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity. The news comes as 10 Downing Street announces thousands of jobs in the green industries, alongside more than £24 billion of private investment for pioneering energy projects, including #GreenVolt, ahead of the International Investment Summit. Our CEO, Stephen Bull, will attend the International Investment Summit today hosted by the UK Government. The summit is a key milestone in the government’s growth mission and will underpin a modern Industrial Strategy. “Whether you’re in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or England – we are creating the conditions for businesses to thrive, and our International Investment Summit will be a springboard for every part of the UK to be an engine of innovation and investment.” Says Prime Minister Keir Starmer. #Offshorewind #Floatingwind #InternationalInvestmentSummit
