STRATEGIC PLACEMAKING #6 HIGH STREETS BOOSTING WELLBEING There are roughly 7,000 high streets across the country*.  90% of Londoners live within 10 minutes of its 1,200 high streets, which support 25% of all the capital’s jobs**. What is becoming increasingly discussed is the importance of high streets to our wellbeing. High streets are still where we do the vast majority of our socialising. It's where we went when emerging from lockdowns during the pandemic. It's where we meet, eat, shop and play.  The Public First Report 2020, showed that we care deeply about out high streets. They are a place for civic pride, and demonstrate a desire for physical shopping rather than online. But most importantly it is where we interact with others. With our increasing awareness of mental illness we are giving more thought to what can help our physical as well as our mental health needs. STRATEGIC PLACEMAKING #5 – INSPIRED ARCHITECTURE: RETAILERS REALLY DO LOOK AT WHAT’S ABOVE THEM! It really isn’t just about the ground floor window when it comes to attracting retailers into new developments. Retailers and restaurateurs are creative entrepreneurs that appreciate inspired architecture. In modern residential towers this can be hard to achieve when uniformity often dictates the exterior. Adding an icon, a totem or just an Instagramable feature can make a difference. Developers of large, mixed use projects are giving an increased level of focus to their “ground floor” spaces. They are after all the front door to all developments. Attracting the right occupiers into such spaces, that are going to be of benefit to the residents or office occupiers above is not straight forward, particularly if they already have negative feelings towards occupying a “concrete box”. Farewell to Poster Hauss & hello Next Door Records! Our client opened Poster Hauss on Stoke Newington Road one week before COVID-19 forced us all into lockdown. Since then, Diego and the team have been committed to hosting exciting and emerging performance talent, creating a cornerstone for musicians/ comedians and filmmakers alike.  After years in the UK, Diego wanted to return home to Argentina and we were happy to assign his lease for him. So, who will be opening up in 182 Stoke Newington Road? None other than Next Door Records. With one existing site in Shepherd's Bush, this marks and exciting expansion plan.
