About us
The Mineral Products Association (MPA) is the trade association for the aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar and industrial sand industries. With the merger of British Precast, and affiliation of the British Association of Reinforcement (BAR), the British Calcium Carbonate Federation, the Cement Admixtures Association (CAA), CONSTRUCT, Eurobitume, MPA Northern Ireland, MPA Scotland and the UK Quality Ash Association (UKQAA), it has a growing membership of 520 companies and is the sectoral voice for mineral products. MPA membership is made up of the vast majority of independent SME quarrying companies throughout the UK, as well as the 9 major international and global companies. It covers 100% of UK cement and lime production, 90% of GB aggregates production, 95% of asphalt and over 70% of ready-mixed concrete and precast concrete production. In 2021, the industry supplied £22 billion worth of materials and services to the Economy. It is also the largest supplier to the construction industry, which had annual output valued at £178 billion. Industry production represents the largest flow of materials in the UK economy and is also one of the largest manufacturing sectors.

Coping right now: - Try not to think about the future – just focus on getting through today. - Stay away from drugs and alcohol. - Get yourself to a safe place, like a friend’s house. - Be around other people. - Do something you usually enjoy, such as spending time with a pet. #WorldMentalHealthDay: In 2022/23, there were an estimated 875,000 cases of work-related stress, depression, or anxiety in the UK. In 2022 there were 6,588 deaths registered in the UK where the cause was recorded as suicide. Four in five suicides are by men, with suicide the biggest cause of death for men under 35. These shocking statistics continue to get worse and affect many occupations throughout UK industry including #construction, transport and logistics, fire and security, manufacturing, farming and medical professions. Spot the signs that someone may need support: - Feeling restless and agitated. - Feeling tearful. - Not wanting to talk to or be with people. - Not wanting to do things they usually enjoy. - Using alcohol or drugs to cope with feelings. - Finding it hard to cope with everyday things. - Not replying to messages or being distant. - Their work just doesn’t appear to be at the same standard. - New pattern of unexplained lateness or absences. - Recent inability to concentrate on their work or in meetings. - Recent inability to complete any of their work. You might not always be able to spot these signs, and these emotions show up differently in everyone.
