  • Sustainable energy solutions with Grain LNG and SGN At Grain LNG, we're proud to be the sole LNG supplier for SGN, a key operator of gas networks across Scotland and the south of England. This collaboration shows our commitment to providing environmentally friendly energy solutions and aligns with our focus on safety and customer satisfaction. SGN manages a vast network, delivering gas to 5.9 million homes. It also operates unique independent networks in remote Scottish locations, using LNG to meet their energy needs.  These networks rely on LNG delivered from our state-of-the-art Road Tanker Loading Facility at the Isle of Grain, where safety and environmental sustainability are paramount. Our relationship with SGN extends beyond supply; it's a partnership driven by shared values.  SGN prioritise the use of intermodal ISO containers that can be transported by rail or road, reducing environmental impact and enhancing efficiency. This approach supports approximately 9,000 customers in some of the most remote areas and showcases our commitment to innovation in energy distribution. Feedback from SGN highlights the alignment of our safety values and the proactive communication and tailored reporting that Grain LNG provides, ensuring that SGN's needs and priorities are met promptly and effectively. • Damian and Humphrey's 1,400-mile cycling adventure to Italy We are pleased to share that Damian Heylen and his son Humphrey have successfully completed their 1,400-mile cycle from Kent to Salerno, just in time for a very special family wedding.  Over 18 days, they tackled challenging terrains and weather, averaging about 80 miles daily, raising £6,000 for Ovarian and Prostate Cancer research along the way. Despite a calf injury in Geneva that tested his resilience, Damian persevered, driven by the cause and the support from all of you.  Here are some of Damian's memorable highlights: 🚵♂️ A breathtaking entry into Geneva, with the Jura Mountains behind them and a sunlit view of the city ahead. 🚵♂️  The exhilarating 40-mile descent through the Gotthard Pass in Switzerland to Bellinzona, a welcome reward after the challenging climb. 🚵♀️ Most importantly, the invaluable father-son time, creating lasting memories over shared challenges and beautiful landscapes. This journey began as a bonding trip and grew into a significant fundraising initiative, thanks to a close family friend's battle with ovarian cancer.  Supporting Target Ovarian Cancer and Prostate Cancer UK, Damian and Humphrey remind us of the importance of community support and early cancer detection. A massive thank you to Damian, Humphrey, and everyone who supported their incredible effort. Your generosity will make a profound difference in the lives of many. #GrainLNG #CyclingForACause #OvarianCancerAwareness #ProstateCancerAwareness

  • Grain LNG's STEM Day at Twydall Primary School Last week, National Grid Grain LNG engineers visited pupils at Twydall Primary School, where they participated in a day of exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) workshops.  The event, which involved every pupil in the school in a carousel of workshops with the engineers, included making giant bubbles, designing and making model vehicles, minibeast hunting, constructing a giant tetrahedron and geodesic dome, and using safe tools to design and create models from recycled cardboard.  The day, which was managed by Medway Education Business Partnership and sponsored by National Grid Grain LNG, aimed to expose the children to a range of STEM-related activities, develop skills, and raise interest in the subjects in a fun and exciting way.  Charlie Bone, STEM and Outreach Coordinator at Grain LNG, said, “We’re proud to have aided and facilitated the STEM Day at Twydall Primary School. We all have a commitment to the local community that we live and work in by engaging with young people to inspire the next generation of Engineers.”  Toni Clarke, MEBP’s Chief Executive, commented, “National Grid Grain LNG’s involvement is in the local community is amazing, no fewer than 20 of their highly skilled workers supported the event. Grain LNG already support a host of initiatives in Medway and we are very fortunate to have such a committed employer in our midst.” Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to engage and inspire through STEM education. #GrainLNG #STEMEducation #CommunityEngagement #FutureEngineers

  • Grain LNG: Successfully submitting our 2024 COMAH Report We are pleased to announce that Grain LNG has successfully submitted the 2024 COMAH report to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Environment Agency (EA).  This crucial report, which will be reviewed over the next six months, will shape our operational safety measures and regulatory compliance for the coming five years. The COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) report is a key document that outlines the management of substantial quantities of dangerous substances at our site.  It details our robust safety systems designed to prevent incidents that could impact our employees, the local community, and the environment. This year's report results from an exhaustive 12-month effort by teams across all disciplines at our terminal, demonstrating our commitment to safety.  Special recognition goes to Kehinde Makinde and Ian Antoine, who have worked tirelessly over the past month to ensure the report's excellence and timely submission.  Their effort in managing the terminal's ongoing process safety has been instrumental. Thank you to everyone at Grain LNG who contributed to updating, reviewing, and submitting this report. Your dedication ensures the safety of our team, our community, and the environment.  Thanks to your efforts, we look forward to continuing our high standards of safety and regulatory compliance. #GrainLNG #SafetyFirst #COMAH #IndustrialSafety #ThankYouTeam

  • Celebrating young minds and community at the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards At Grain LNG, we are proud to celebrate the creativity and thoughtfulness demonstrated in the Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards organised by Mind in Bexley and East Kent.  This year, the competition saw inspiring participation from school children across Kent, who were tasked with designing trophies that symbolise kindness and mental health awareness. The contest, which showcases the best in wellbeing and mental health initiatives, was so impressive that two winners were selected due to the outstanding quality of the entries.  The young designers, Niamh Bates and Alina Sebin, recently enjoyed watching their visions come to life, with their designs crafted into awards from sustainable bamboo. Stuart Clack, our Health & Wellbeing Specialist and one of the judges for the awards, along with Dr Stuart Hill, commented on the event: "The competition for schoolchildren to design the Kent Mental Health Awards is a fantastic initiative. It encourages young minds to openly discuss mental health, helping to dismantle the stigma from an early age. The creativity invested in the trophy designs was remarkable, and it's exhilarating to see such young talents being recognised. Congratulations to everyone who participated!" These awards highlight creative achievements and align with our commitment at Grain LNG to create a supportive and understanding environment within and outside the workplace.  Nominations for the next Kent Mental Wellbeing Awards are now open. If you wish to nominate someone, please visit the Kent Awards nomination form at East Kent Mind - https://lnkd.in/e8HGHcgw We're excited to see how these young individuals' ideas contribute to spreading kindness throughout Kent. #MentalHealthAwareness #CommunityEngagement #GrainLNG

  • Increasing wellness at Grain LNG: Race at your pace 2024 Since 2019, Grain LNG has actively supported the 'Race At Your Pace' initiative to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among our team.  This programme invites employees to participate in their chosen activities: walking, running, cycling, or swimming, and set personal goals for the month. This June, our team impressively covered 6,303 miles, equivalent to the distance from London to Hong Kong.  Each registration helped plant 48 trees in Africa, demonstrating our commitment to health and environmental care. We also introduced an internal competition in which the top three teams by average miles won a trophy, which increased motivation and team morale.  This initiative has significantly improved wellness within our workforce: 🔹98% of participants reported improvements in both physical and mental wellness.  🔹94% became more active, thanks to the challenge. These efforts improve individual health and also benefit our local community, as many of our team members live in the area. Thank you to all who participated and supported both personal and community wellbeing. Stay tuned for more updates on our ongoing health initiatives. #GrainLNG #WellbeingAtWork #EmployeeHealth #RaceAtYourPace

  • Grain LNG backs young engineers at the Eco Go-Cart event 🏎️ Over the weekend of June 29th and 30th, Grain LNG supported the MEBP 2024 Eco Go-Cart event, a fun and educational initiative that connects us with local schools and promotes early interest in engineering among students. Our apprentices from years 1, 2, and 3 played a key role, assisting Year 5 and 6 pupils from four of the 18 participating primary schools.  They helped the young students build their eco-friendly carts from scratch, providing guidance on following plans and safely using hand tools. The event included a race weekend, during which Grain LNG staff helped organise and keep things running smoothly.  The Mayor of Medway attended the event on Saturday, and our management team participated in the award presentations for achievements like the fastest go-cart and best-decorated cart. Every participant left with a medal, but the real reward was the experience gained and the sparked interest in STEM fields. Thank you to everyone involved for making this event a success and for helping support the next generation of engineers! #GrainLNG #STEMEducation #CommunityEngagement #EcoGoCart
