Maintaining High Standards! As a terminal, we actively manage a programme of works to identify and capture critical assets, ensuring that replacement schemes are in place for the ongoing operation of the site. Recently, we replaced two key analysers, which involved removing obsolete units and installing new vendor-supported models. One analyser was installed on one of our jetties to monitor the gas composition arriving at the site via LNG cargo ships. The second analyser was fitted to our road tank loading facility (RTLF) to analyse gas leaving the site via road tankers. Effectively managing these assets is essential for us to uphold high standards and facilitate continuous improvement. #GrainLNG #EnergyEfficiency #InnovationInEnergy #SafetyFirst

Did you know that LNG is stored at an incredibly cold -162°C? This process reduces its volume to 600 times less than its gaseous state, making it more efficient to store and transport. To put this into perspective, if LNG was stored in its gaseous form, the tanks needed would have to be 68 times taller than the Shard in London! That’s a huge scale of energy contained compactly at Grain LNG. #GrainLNG #EnergyEfficiency #InnovationInEnergy #TheShard

🕒💡 Exploring Time vs Risk: A Key KISTT Currency at Grain LNG 💡🕒 At Grain LNG, safety is one of our key priorities, and it's embedded in our KISTT (Keeping It Safe Today and Tomorrow) program. KISTT was first introduced in 2008 and extended to all staff and contractors by 2011. It is central to managing the critical balance between time and risk, one of the essential KISTT currencies. Why Time vs Risk Matters: In our work environment, the drive to save time can tempt us to take greater risks, especially under pressure. This can increase the risks we accept, sometimes even turning them into habits. KISTT helps us manage these challenges effectively. We conduct KISTT safety walks each week and discuss our approaches in our bi-weekly hub meetings attended by staff, contractors, and site visitors. This proactive approach is about understanding and mitigating risks effectively, reinforcing that no time saved is worth compromising our safety. Stay safe, think carefully, and prioritize wellbeing as we continue to manage time against risk effectively. #GrainLNG #KISTT #SafetyFirst #TimeVsRisk #BehavioralSafety #EnergySafety

Discovering History at Port Victoria – The Queen's Pier In the late 1870s, the South-Eastern Railway promoted a line through the Hoo district aimed at tapping into the traffic from London to Sheerness. This development included the construction of a pier at the Isle of Grain, which caught the attention of Queen Victoria herself. Queen Victoria found the location ideal for her departures on trips to Germany and other destinations, using the pier to embark and disembark the royal yacht. In 1899, her interest even influenced the Royal Yacht Club to move its headquarters to the area. Although the project ceased to be used by 1931, the remnants of the pier's foundations are still visible at low tide, preserving a piece of royal history right here at the Isle of Grain. #PortVictoria #QueensPier #IsleOfGrain #HistoricSites #LocalHistory #GrainLNG

Rainham Mark Grammar School Careers Fair Organised by Charlie Bone, Grain LNG had the pleasure of engaging with young minds at Rainham Mark Grammar School. Our team, including Tom Monaghan, Rhiannon Sesay, and Bailey Lawson, shared insights into the world of Liquid Natural Gas and its important role in the UK's energy landscape. The fair brought together local businesses, highlighting a range of career opportunities. It was great to see Year 9 students, who are at the time of choosing their GCSEs, ask advanced questions that show an interest in energy and sustainability. As the day progressed, Year 11 and sixth form students also joined to learn about career paths and opportunities in the energy sector as they prepare to take their next steps. It was also a great opportunity to showcase our two Control and Instrumentation apprenticeships that are available from now until 28th February. The entry requirements are a pass in English and Maths at GCSE or L2 in functional skills.
